for those keeping track, the dog whistles have moved from bigotry to violence.

ever since nixon's southern strategy, republicans have been making dog whistles to their base about sexism, racism, xenophobia, etc.

with benedict donald's campaign, the bigotry has become pretty overt and unapologetic -- no longer a dog whistle, humans can hear that whistle quite clearly.

what's dog whistle is that violence on the part of republicans if fine. this started with donnie's campaign speeches, pining for the good old days of beating up protestors, promising to cover legal bills for supporters who assault protestors, etc.

add to that the overt violence of shoving prime ministers around and body-checking reporters.

we are at a dangerous time. benedict donald's administration seems to be floundering, yet there are other signs of a continued march toward fascism.

we're in big trouble if people who act like this survive politically.

He's sold himself to a specific group of sad-sacks. They're the "strongly approve" groups polled about trump's performance. I think a lot of them have Daddy Issues that completely overwhelm their better judgement. He also personally knows that appealing to the NRA group's defensiveness will rile them up (for example) & turn them to anger. If he eggs them on enough, rage.

Rallies do that. All Trump has to do is direct their anger at everyone else: those who try to take down their beloved celebrity. Each seems to think that trump will PERSONALLY save them.

Extreme cultishness- aimed at emotionally crippled Trump supporters. The rabid ones look like they'd do just about anything for their guy.

whistle. The Republican candidate body slammed a reporter, put his hands around his neck, and repeatedly punched him (according to Fox news witness). Yes, they are setting the example and sending out the message to their minions on how to behave.
