I saw something about DU meetups

Do we have them?

I live in the sticks, but I'd love to meet fellow DUers. This is such a great community - I meet up with some of you via gaming, some via email, it's wonderful. I'd love to have a barbecue with many of you.

Just having fond thoughts of DU and wondering about whether or not we could have a DU party where *I* am

We used to set up the Triangle ones just by posting in our state forum and arguing about when/where to meet until we reached agreement

Always fun!

I have friends in Canada, and ya'll send such gorgeous pictures, and seem like we do down here. *I* would walk into the grocery store in shorts when it is above 1F, if you would go outside in a leather dress when it is nearly 100f.

we adapt that quickly.

I've never actually met a DU member (I'm stuck in GA 30084, against my will) but would love to find others to befriend and discuss issues with, without being told I'm th' antichrist, "Devil worshipper," race traitor, stupid, or "commonist." That would be great!

You know what it is like in MS. Fuck anyone that calls you anything but a great person. If you are able to withstand that, then you are able to step up to the plate and do your own thing without concern.

I put together a couple of pretty cool SmirkingChimp meetups in Old Town Pasadena, back in the day.

I especially like Monrovia, Old Town.

Any interest, pm me.

and express your interest in meeting local people.

That's how we do it in Minnesota. We just had one last month at a restaurant in Minneapolis, and we have met up for several out-of-state DUers who have passed through the city.

I also attended a couple of meet-ups in Oregon and have met up with people in Orlando and Japan.

It seems as if no one entered any of their information in their profile on DU3.....which means when someone says "there are severe storms here" or "have a DU party where I am", we can't determine "where" you are. This happens so often to me that I give up.

No one has to get us all the details of their life, but please give us something to go on!

Other than that, I think it is a nice idea.

With not being able to post my information, probably because I was a former mod.

It's probably because I was a mod at the time, is my only conclusion. I'm not a person that is not transparent whatsoever.

I play with at least 6 different players and we chat off-DU for fun. Many of them have long been associated with the site.

a group to, well, meet up.

That way, like-minded politicos who are searching for folks to meet up with can find each other. And you can introduce these folks to DU if they are not familiar with the site.

I joined a local Meet-up group here in Kansas City in the spring of 2004 just so I could rub elbows with other Democrats ready to do something. We would meet-up once a month and exchange contact info and take turns handing out leaflets at public events mostly to let people know that we Democrats still existed.......
