That speech to NATO is an embarrassment, it shames this nation - and he has to know better, HAS TO. As in it is his obligation to know how this shit operates.
NATO members don't pay a damn bill. They don't put cash in a pot to pay the US or anyone else.
They agree to supply military capabilities using their own country's resources.
Lithuania agrees that it will maintain X number of fighter jets, Y number of attack helicopters and Z number of soldiers equipped and trained to NATO standards.
Belgium agrees to have X number of heavy transport planes and Y number of coastal patrol vessels etc fucking et cetera.
NATO summits happen on the regular dipshit. Oh yeah, and the USA supplies a contingent of NATO military leaders - shit Sec. of Defense Mattis even explained this in his testimony to the Senate back in March.
I cannot give you an accounting for past money owed, because thats not the way we do that in NATO, Mattis told the Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee. We do it through capabilities. Thats the commitment each nation makes."

Sorry that Fox and Friends didn't mention it. Too bad really, maybe if they had you wouldn't have made such an obvious fool of yourself.
There is no excuse for this ignorant fucking balloon full of cheese sauce and stupidity to say this in public. Let alone in front of a crowd of NATO leadership - Who all know how shit actually works. If you want to re-allocate who supplies what capability -SAY THAT YOU WANT TO RE-ALLOCATE CAPABILITIES. You fucking stupid traitorous chancre on the crotch of America.

(58,785 posts)what today's Republican Party has been degraded to.
America currently has only one party that seeks to protect our constitutional principles and both represent the wishes of our people and promote our wellbeing.
Given the blizzard to anti-Democrat propaganda blanketing our nation, we really need all the help the Republican leadership can give us to get our message through dense, ignorant, deluded and/or indifferent heads.

(99 posts)She seems to be close to saying, "Ain't no amount of money in the world worth this crap." When a wife doesn't even want to hold your hand, you KNOW she doesn't want to even be touched by the clown, let alone anything else. I know she's going to hate leaving New York and having to look at this very unattractive, bloated, cruel, idiot every single day. She doesn't even try to fake it anymore. She's letting the whole world see her disdain for this creature.
In the picture of her with the REAL first lady, Trump, and the Pope, she looked absolutely miserable. I sort of feel sorry for her. He wooed her with all his money and bling and she, just barely knowing the English language fell right in his web. I know in my heart he mistreats this woman. He may not beat her physically, but I bet he beats her down every chance he gets and probably in front of little Barron.

(9,426 posts)Her English may not have been very good, but surely her EYESIGHT was 20/20? He flashed his cash (what he claims he has, anyway) and she saw a bright future, no working again, get pregnant and be set for life. Gold diggers have to eventually wake up to the fact that money can not buy happiness. Her greed got her into this mess. By the way, her parents seem to have made out well, too. They live in tRump Tower, and divide their time between there and Mar-A-Lago. Not bad for a former Communist, eh? I wonder if they had their phones tapped by the FBI, too? I wonder if the father was running the illegal gambling operation for the Russians in the tower?

(15,696 posts)We had NATO, and The Soviet Union had The Warsaw Pact. I'm reaching back to 8th grade history class for this info, so correct me if I'm wrong. I was taught that we formed NATO because of the spread of Communism. And one of the reasons we support it (even after the cold war ended) with more $$ than other countries is so that any future war isn't fought on our soil. Other countries contribute support, according to their capabilities.
The most important thing Trump doesn't care about: NATO, like democracy, only works if you believe in its principles and are willing to defend them through participation and vigilance. He isn't the least bit interested in the welfare of the world's citizens.

(16,375 posts)It has served that purpose very successfully. All of the post-war peacemaking the U.S. put in place was wonderfully progressive and it's been very durable. There hasn't been a war among major powers since 1945. I'm afraid that the long phase of U.S. driven peace and prosperity is in its death throes.
TomVilmer
(1,832 posts)When our peace movement happily gained so much power, that even a right wing government had to vote for nuclear disarmament, and we are still keeping that sh*t out of Denmark. Except for Greenland, where USA seems to be doing whatever they want. We were just asking NATO to do as they claimed they would do, since this is the very first article of the NATO Treaty:
"The Parties undertake, as set forth in the Charter of the United Nations, to settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security and justice are not endangered, and to refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations."
Everybody seems to have forgotten to even try to live up to this important part, that NATO was founded to supposedly "settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means". Nobody ever quotes that part - they are too busy stockpiling weapons. So we are quite happy for Trump in a strange way, since our government now is easier to convince not to accept every demand coming from the USA .
So, we will be fighting that 2 percent spending to the military, which by the way will make fx Germany alone use more money on arms than Russia does.
