{{BREAKING}} Republicans intentionally keep unemployment rate above 8%.

Not only have they been obstructing everything this President has proposed but they have actually stopped jobs from being created.

It was reported today by the MSM that more than 600,000 public workers, teachers, policemen, firemen, and postal workers, have lost their jobs because the Republican Congress refuses to pass the President's job bill.

In fact, the jobless rate would be almost a full point lower if the Republicans were not obstructing and blocking these jobs.

It is extremely important that people understand who is keeping the unemployment rate as high as it is. It is not the President - it is the Republican Congress. They should be made to answer to the voters of this country.

Because of weather, we have a limited window. We plan ahead! We've got some projects that are just ON HOLD, waiting for some dough!

I wouldn't be surprised if others have already gotten their prep work done, too, especially the ones who get a lot of snow and foul weather. I hope so, anyway!

My state got a lot of early stimulus cash as well and it has made a real difference. We still have some bridges that could use work and some roads that need attention, too.

And it makes sense. Someone just has to report it. IF we were to take the 600,000 teachers and public employees off the unemployment roll and add 600,000 more jobs, then the unemployment rate would drop by about 1 full percentage point.

Several of President Obama's Weekly Addresses Are Dedicated To Attacking Republicans for their inaction. Look at the most recent weekly address for example. But the media ignores it.

So, the Obama campaign has to spend millions in political ads to get the message out, while the corporate media gives free airplay to Republican talking points.

This is what I mean. Even liberals are left unaware of what President Obama is saying in his Weekly Addresses of all things, because the corporate media is suppressing the truth. Paul Krugman wrote an article noting how the corporate media pundits have begun to say that President Obama should introduce a job plan when he has done so, but Republicans have simply refused to pass it. As Krugman said, the pundits are demanding that President Obama do what has already done. Krugman questions the motives of these pundits (who should know better) in pushing these demands while ignoring Republicans:

viewership, so as to sell ads and commercials. If that requires a news blackout on the truth in the interests of promoting the drama of a horse race, why then, a news blackout it shall be. IIRC, the word 'bias' in the English langugage has its origins in the physical weights that were attached to certain horses in a race so as to even the playing field

I haven't watched a nightly news broadcast or read a mainstream newspaper in well over a year now. DU's LBN and Politics forums keep me very well informed, better informed than those who subsist on a diet of MSM pablum.

And I'm glad to hear the Obama campaign has been attacking Congress (as it should). The fault is probably mine, as I do not keep my antenna poised for updates from the Obama campaign. Does seem like these Obama attacks have received pretty short shrift in LBN and Politics forum here, but that may be either my imagination and\or my selectivity in the threads I choose to peruse.

Would this economy be doing better and would the unemployment rate be lower if the Republican Congress was not obstructing and forcing job cuts in our public sector and refusing to pass any jobs bills?

I think it is obvious. And it is very relevant to the political debate, even if the MSM refuses to discuss it.

not only congress but banks and lending, business sitting on TRILLIONS in cash, not hiring.
We have to get a more progressive congress. They only have four more months to stall any job creation.
I hope people see this finally and throw out those responsible for people losing their homes, savings, health ins when laid off etc.
It is treason to subvert the economy for political gain, destroy peoples lives just to defeat Obama.

some people will say, they are going to continue blocking you in your second term, so you wont be able to do much better then either and so we will continue to stagnate if you win. So Obama has been arguing that in the second term the GOP wont block him anymore. It might be plausible to people that havent been paying attention.

Sat Jul 7, 2012, 10:22 PM
Jul 2012

I have posted several times, but not to often. I am sorry if I am interrupting or intruding but I wanted to maybe explain something about the conversation you are having. Peregrine Took made the statement concerning why doesn't he just explain in simple words what has been happening, and I would like to explain why he can't do that, and also why most people who are honest and have commonsense already new this, that they were sabotaging the economy, I know I did long ago. I am not trying to be racist, because I am not that kind of person, I am a Christian, born again, who loves everyone. The reason he cannot say this is he is a Black man, the first African American president. A lot of white people, especially white men already consider him less intelligent, less smart, and incapable of doing the job anyway, this would cement that notion into their minds, and many would say that he was making excuses. If he was too go before the people making such statements most white people would say he was whining and trying to place blame, like many are already doing. I am a woman, and an African American who grew up in West Virginia when racism was rampant. Some people already want to hurt him, destroy him if possible, and we, the people on this site know this already. I have great faith in this man, my President, if it is meant for him to win God will make a way, he does not need to go before people telling them what many already know, and that is many white men are willing to destroy this Nation so that they can destroy him, just because he is a Black man who has pride and wants the best for all people. That is my take on this, I maybe wrong, but I do not think I am. Thank you for letting me speak. Be blessed everyone!
