Richard Nixon had an approval rating of around twenty five percent when he resigned in disgrace so all presidents have a loyal base of dead enders. I would argue Trump has proven to be a infinitely poorer executive than Nixon but I digress. There are approximately thirty percent of Americans who hate Mexicans, Muslims, Jews, African Americans, glbtq people, liberals, and emancipated women that will support Trump regardless of what he does because he hates the same people they do.
So what events need to occur for the 25% of the 40% support Chump has to finally peal away. Chump Care is a mess, the economy is so so as it was under PBO, and he is up to his eyeballs in corruption.
IMHO, the straw that breaks the camel's back will be actual indictments of his associates.

(10,437 posts)if this level is maintained or drops, 2018 will be a disaster for conservatives. No reason to think it won't as trump is trump and he can;t keep his mouth shut and believes himself to be untouchable.
He has much to learn about the law, democracy and the constitution

(9,670 posts)I don't think we'll see his approval dip much lower than 35%, just because so many Americans get their news from propaganda sources and may not even comprehend the veracity and gravity of the claims being made against Trump.
They live in a bubble and don't want to hear or believe what's going on outside their echo chamber.

(16,789 posts)of Carter Paige, Paul Manaforte, Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Jeff Sessions, VP Mike Pence, and Jared Kushner tighten, they will eventually squeal and pin everything on the Donald. It will take time, but squeal they will.
All of them will want immunity from prosecution. You can bet the farm on that. "Tell us what you know, show us documents, the proof, and we will get back to you on the Immunity deal."
The Donald is going down and it will not be pretty. The message that sends around the world, making the US look more like a laughing stock than it is already with the Buffoon-In-Chief, will take years to repair.

(36,509 posts)take down the upper echelon of GOP leadership - Pence, McConnell & Ryan & let's get Scott Walker, too, fucking assholes all of them - & the putrid cabinet, too. He'll try to cut a deal for Jared, or maybe not, considering the perverted thing he has for his daughter. Too bad we're stuck with Gorshit.

(10,303 posts)So when reputable news sources are saying Trump is screwing up left right and center... they are not believed.
The people who mainly support #45 also distrust the media.
Therefore I think that until these people realise that they are being lied to by their media choices then they will continue to support #45.

(3,194 posts)I have a hard time supporting the media. THEY ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. They have and continue to embrace Drumpf, so I couldn't care less if they're looked upon negatively.
