My fear about Trump (remember GWB)

in 2001 GWB, the unelected President, was on his way to a failed Presidency. His approval numbers continued to fall and he went from one misstep and scandal to another....Then 9/11 happened and criticizing or opposing the President was verboten. And we had to watch as he spent the next 7 years almost destroying the country.

As Trump trundles toward the biggest failure in Presidential history, I fear an event could happen that would give him and the GOP Congress the cover to completely decimate this country.

Make it Happen or Let it Happen.
It would happen through pure incompetence. But once it does, we will suffer the consequenes.

Trump is an evil liar with a long documented history. His support would be strictly partisan.

something like 9/11 were to happen again, you would find the calls to stand behind the President deafening.

I can see Congress shoveling all support behind Trump to keep him in and going so that the first 100 days is just old news.

I still can't stand him, but he was disciplined and mostly followed the script. And when he did try to ad lib, it mostly came off as goofy and bumbling.

There's no chance of that with Trump. He'll either do or say something offensive in a way that loses him support as quickly as it builds up.

If something bad happens at least half the country will blame him.

because the 'leaks' of classified information is deliberate. The more incompetent the IC looks the less allies will share with the US. The less that is shared the easier it will be for terrorists to slip into the US. Then an attack will occur. Then the authoritarian regime will seriously begin.

I doubt very much there will be midterm elections.
