It seems like a leading Democrats suddenly getting the attack from the left treatment, so time to drop some facts on some trolls.

Now, as Trump goes out of his way to cut taxes for the rich, roll back worker and environmental protections, and do his best to undermine U.S. alliances, would real progressives spend so much effort attacking the leading Democrats opposing him.
Now, I am sure someone will attack Booker from the "left" because he is not demanded Trump's immediate impeachment. Of course, this would put him in the company of other well-known progressives like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who also have pumped the breaks on impeachment talk. But, the facts do not matter in a good propaganda campaign. We need to expose and call out the trolls and recognize these disinformation campaigns for what they are.

The Russian government used "thousands" of internet trolls and bots to spread fake news, in addition to hacking into political campaigns leading up to the 2016 U.S. election, according to one lawmaker.
Disinformation spread on social media was designed to raise doubts about the U.S. election and the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, said Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat.
"This Russian propaganda on steroids was designed to poison the national conversation in America," Warner said Thursday during a Senate hearing on Russian election hacking. The Russian government used "thousands of paid internet trolls" and bots to spread disinformation on social media.
The groups spreading disinformation appeared to target specific swing states in the weeks leading up to the U.S. election, Warner said. He questioned whether Russian operatives would have that level of U.S. elections expertise without outside help.

(26,371 posts)I would take Booker over any Republican and a good many Democrats (like Manchin), but trying to make him into Mother Jones or Bobby Kennedy is just plain silly.

We're supposed to SUPPORT THE TEAM!!!
But yeah, it's possible to respect someone and still disagree with some of the things that he or she does. That's called nuance. It's called concern for issues and the people whose lives they affect. Those things are very important.

(17,390 posts)Exculpatory things like saying there should be a full investigation of Trump? How is that different from what Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders have said? Or, are they dirty, too?

"Russia's interference was unprecedented and dangerous," said Booker, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. "We need to get to the bottom of it and in order to give the American people full confidence in the investigation, it should be handled by an independent counsel who does not answer to President Trump."
Booker in January broke with precedent and urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to reject Sessions, a colleague.
With support from both sides of the aisle, Rosenstein's confirmation sailed through, 92-6. Booker was one of the six, along with fellow Democrats Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Kamala Harris of California and Mark Warner of Virginia.
Besides his concern over Russia, Booker said he wasn't satisfied with Rosenstein's answers about criminal justice, civil rights, and immigration.
