but he drifted off.
Then remaining letters of "covfefe," "f," "e," "f", and "e" are all in a bundle on a keyboard for the left hand and are close to the letters ("e," "r," "a," "g," and "e" .
He obviously drifted off after "v."

(38,002 posts)Was it a continuation of the previous tweet? If he fell asleep after typing that, then who clicked the TWEET BUTTON?

(63,215 posts)You know, being asleep and whatnot.

(19,359 posts)He's continuing another thought then, drifting off, finishes what he thinks is a word, and hits the tweet button.

(63,215 posts)Your explanation is not far-fetched, but so what?
If Obama had done it, McConnell would already be on the Senate floor calling for the 25th Amendment on grounds that the President is clearly incompetent.
I'm just clarifying what happened in fact, not making a judgment.
(If you want my judgments, click on my journal and see 1,000 CAPTIONs, many of PresiDented Trump.)

Someone could have taken the phone away mid tweet. Someone could have walked in on him tweeting and could have startled him and he hit buttons and posted while hiding his phone.
So many things could have happened. So don't expect everyone to just agree with you. It is a discussion board after all.

(19,359 posts)this is what I THINK happened. But it is simple, clear, likely, and it explains all the facts.
Can you come up with a better explanation? Remember, it has to be likely.

Again, the most likely scenario:
Trump is in bed, tired and foggy.
He thinks he is beginning a sentence "Despite negative press coverage" and then initially planned to add an independent clause like: "my administration has accomplished more than any other in the first 120 days."
But he begins falling asleep 1/2 through "coverage" and types "covfefe" instead. Then, thinking this is the end of his thoughts (imagining in his drifting off mind that he already had typed the independent clause), he hits the send button and enters slumberland.
It seems pretty clear.

(36,926 posts)I've seen it many times among children with reading learning disabilities. Not that particular word, but they tend to spell by sound, as they have trouble mastering phonics and sight word memory.

It's funny but not especially important.

(19,359 posts)maybe it's important in that it's not evidence of his derangement.
(There's plenty of that elsewhere.)
