Trumps Support Drops in Military Communities - "an important significant shift"

Trump’s Support Drops in Military Communities

NBC News: “An analysis of Gallup polling data comparing the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency to the month of May shows that Trump’s job approval in military counties dropped sharply in the last month – from an average 51% approval and 41% disapproval in the first 100 days to 43% approval and 52% disapproval for May.”

“Taken together that is a 16-point swing, from a net +7 in the first 100 days to a net -9 in May. That’s far greater than the overall change in the Gallup data and it may be a sign of an important shift in those places.”

with their lives, their partners' lives, or their neighbors - the poll was in military communities not just the military.

It's odd because the real focus of the whole email mess was the word "trust" associated with Hillary. They got on it early and stuck with it.

If Trump, who supports the military only to the degree that he senses it's convenient, had over 50% support in the military to begin with, that is one scary statistic about the level of intelligence in the rank and file of our military. I sure as hell don't think the country is safe if we are relying on protection from a body of fighters who think Trump was the better choice in 2016.

whining about Trump's budget and how it will affect retirees. Zero sympathy because they voted for him. Some said even though Trump is doing this they would still vote for Trump over Hillary. One even said he would vote for Trump again. Pisses me off because they vote Republican at all costs affects my family (hubby is retired military)too. My husband had to deal with that his entire career. Everyone always listening to Limbaugh when the radio was on. One of the guys he served with told me that he would never vote for a Democrat as long as he had breath in his body. Yes..those are the ones who ruin it for everyone. <eye roll>

saying of McCain during the primaries, "he's not a war hero, I prefer those who were not shot down".

as if Deferment Donnie has any business passing judgement off on McCain.

And the "support our military" republicans sat back and said nothing. Would have loved to see their reaction if Hilary had said that instead.

Oh, and also called McCain a "loser" on twitter, as sitting prez.

There's a whole generation of folks, who are just now retiring, who lived through the much leaner Clinton years.

Add to that the mass influx of men, weapons, equipment, training and actual missions after 9/11(Bush years) and the perception that Republicans are more military friendly than Dems remains.

I know very few who rabidly identify with the Republican party itself but mostly just prefer them to the Democratic party as the supposed lesser of two evils.

Which pretty much sums up the last election as well now that I think about it.

Go into these communities, and remind the folks there that when it comes to actually funding veterans' benefits, and insisting that deployments aren't just called up willy-nilly but done for a good reason, there's one party that stands with the men and women serving in the military, and it ain't the fucking Republicans. Maybe Senator Duckworth could headline?

I dropped out of an online veterans group because they became so pro-Trump/Oath Keeper-ish. It's a closed group, and after some of the discussions we had I doubt that they would re-admit me.

Not interested enough to try, but I do wonder what the conversations are in there these days.

Trump is a sniveling worm who has never been in combat, makes rash, uninformed decisions and drops bombs for entertainment. Why anyone in the military supports this asshole is beyond comprehension.
