So Trump tried to show his cultists that he could play badass with that Muslim mayor of London

and it backfired. Not only did he get smacked down with disdain by the mayor's office and Londoners, ABC just reported that there were calls to disinvite him from his upcoming visit. He postponed his visit...err, ride in the gold carriage.

That world leaders are not small contractors that Trump can bully and threaten into getting his way because they aren't as rich and powerful as he is and they are much more sophisticated than he will ever be.

I'm sure they're whooping it up in Freeperville because "he really told 'em" or some such idiocy. He's playing to his base now because that's really all he's got. He needs his base desperately to ensure that his pathetic little Nuremberg-Lite Klan Meetings/Hatefests are well-attended so he can convince himself he's loved & adored.

It's gone way beyond pathetic; it's pathological.

Most of them won't pay attention to the response from the brown foreigner. And, while Trump has gone over the top with the hateful rhetoric, W also played to his base most of the time as well. He usually couched it in better language, though.

Men here will be familiar with the dumb machismo the president continually tries to pull. Don't worry, women - most men hate this stuff too.

Macron used that dumb machismo against him, easily out-pulling him on the handshake and turning away from him and to Merkel for the first greeting.

This thread from TPM is exactly right:

A few years ago I had the unexpected opportunity to visit London on a tour (a friend's husband couldn't make it at the last minute and she offered to spot me the deposit if I bought the rest of his ticket). My only regret is that it was only a week. One play we saw starred Helen Mirren; another starred Judy Dench.

Gotta say it would be entirely wasted on Donald. He really should stay home where he's the star of his own show.

He claims that no one is calling for knife control since they used knives.

He took over 3 days to respond when the terrorist stabbed Americans to death in Portland and just didn't care about the people shot in Kansas by a terrorist.
