Trump Shifts To Infrastructure As James Comey Prepares To Testify

Those pledges have been eclipsed by the political furor over Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 U.S. election. That drama will come to a head next week when former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey, who was leading the Russia probe until Trump fired him, testifies before a U.S. Senate panel on Thursday.

Trump - who has denied any collusion between Russia and his campaign - has struggled to keep the spotlight on plans that could give him a political lift. Holding four events next week on infrastructure and jobs will give him the opportunity to provide some counter-programming to the drumbeat of Russia news.

It is a deft messaging move, said Chris Barron, a pro-Trump Republican strategist, who says the president is at his best when he is on the offensive.

“I think we need to see Trump out of DC. I think we need to see Trump out on the road. I think we need to see Trump engaging his base, firing up his base,” Barron told Reuters.

Btw "Republican Strategist", his base is Rich People.

Not the working class and middle class voters he lied to.

6. I just got an image of him on a chain gang, digging ditches in the summer heat and humidity

"Can I puh-LEEEEZE get a goddamned Diet Coke? Hell-OOOO, what the hell is wrong with you people?"

Now, switching abruptly to the darker, real-world side of this, Trump is TERRIFIED over options his mind can't embrace. He can't understand not being in control. He likes to strut like a rooster over his wealth but is notoriously litigious when it comes to anyone questioning his dollar amount. He has a trophy wife who has spent what...eighty, ninety percent of 2017 away from him under the guise of "We CAN'T take Barron away from his soccer buddies." We have a son-in-law who was supposed to be the great golden prince, and all he''s accomplished is to bring a greater degree of heat in Trump's direction over Russia. We have administrative positions...many...that remain unfilled, because no one wants to work for him, and also because...once again...he spent this entire past weekend playing golf again.

See, when he was on Apprentice (and elsewhere), people laughed and said "What a DICK." The entire PUNCHLINE of Apprentice was that he was the dick with the orange skin and bad comb-over whose entire purpose was to utter "you're fired," and then people would say "What a dick," and he'd laugh and say "Look at all of the jealous losers calling me a dick."

Problem is, he no longer has a TV show, WORLD LEADERS are calling him a dick, and his first line of defense...Kellyanne Conway, Sean Spicer, Hope Hicks and the rest...are seen as a bigger joke than Trump himself.

I have no idea whether this will be the week of bombshells or "Fitzmas Revisited." But if Trump finds himself backed into a corner, who knows what the hell he will do. I assume his first step will be an attempt to silence and discredit anyone who comes after him. Then you have guys like John Cornyn, who said yesterday that he thinks the Senate Committee will have this all wrapped up "by September."

See, Trump is already "in disgrace," but he's also in deep denial. From here on out it's a matter of how much more weight he can gain, how much more he can isolate himself in paranoia and rage, before he can't handle any more.

He's the world's biggest loser who lacks any comprehension of "losing."

8. He'd last maybe two minutes on a chain gang - his notion of strenuous exercise

is when he has to haul his blubbery ass out of his golf cart and actually walk to the ball - or when he has to bend over and move the ball away from a bad lie when he thinks nobody is looking, and it's so hard to bend down over that paunch and then straighten up again.

I think he's discovering that being president isn't nearly as much fun as he thought it would be.

When he attempted to woo Kasich as veep and told him he'd pretty much be doing everything, and he asked "What will Trump be doing" and Donnie replied "Making America great again."

7. It'll be the best infrastructure. Beautiful infrastructure.

It's all he's got.

He's not gonna "repeal and replace" Obamacare this week.

He's not gonna sign off on tax cuts for billionaires this week.

He's not gonna build a big beautiful wall that Mexico is gonna pay for this week.

And the one thing I can guarantee about Robert Meuller is that he's not going to reveal what kind of hard, incriminating evidence he's got until he's ready to act on it. Between Mike Rogers on Wednesday and Comey on Thursday, Meuller could end up with everything he needs, or at minimum, the keys to everything he needs.

Meanwhile, Trump will be filling potholes. MAGA!
