http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/09/politics/kirsten-gillibrand-fbomb/index.htmlWashington (CNN)Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's message about helping the public took on a bold tone Friday morning when she told a crowd at a conference on technology and democracy, "If we are not helping people, we should go the f--- home."
In an out-of-character move, the New York senator dropped the f-bomb a handful of times during a speech at the Personal Democracy Forum at New York University, which explores technology's impact on politics, government and society.
Speaking about President Donald Trump's accomplishments in the White House, Gillibrand said, "Has he kept his promises? No. F--- no."

(4,483 posts)but I'm not altogether comfortable with Sen. Gillebrand's public use of profanity--or Tom Perez's either. Although I share the sentiments she expresses, I'm not sure that cussing is beneficial to the party. For one thing, it's so sudden, out of nowhere--are they cussing because Trump used profanity during the campaign? There is a coarseness here that sort of offends me (and I repeat, I say "fuck" in one form or another at least 50 times a day), and it somehow weakens imo her argument, like too many adjectives.

(149 posts)on her part. Sorry, but it seems to be rash behavior and we don't need more of that.

(14,040 posts)someone will always take umbrage with it. Whether it's coarse language, "shrill" voice, "ranting and raving", emotional, etc.
What I saw was a very frustrated public servant whose done some really good work on behalf of her constituents and Americans in general.
I'm gonna give her a pass because not only does she have to put up with Trump and the GOP on a daily basis she also has to put up with sexist judgements from small-minded people on a matter she has absolutely no control over--how people perceive the female person.

(4,483 posts)that women (in general) are held to a higher standard of behavior lest they/we come off as uppity or glob help us shrill. But I included Tom Perez in my post. My discomfort with swearing by the good ones, especially the *really* good ones, truly has nothing to do with gender.
