Karl Rove, in Murdoch's paper, says Trump can't do the job ("Political Death by 1,000 Tweets")

In a blistering op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Rove said, “Trump lacks the focus or self-discipline to do the basic work required of a president.”

Rove began explaining why Trump’s tweeting doesn’t remove the media barrier between Trump and the citizenry, it consistently undermines his administration and his political agenda. Citing Trump’s tweets calling his executive order a “travel ban,” Rove said the legal strategy defending the ban “lies in tatters.”

He went on to wonder why Trump was questioning the motives of other countries for entering into the Paris Climate Accord at a time that the U.S. needs international support for the war against ISIS. Instead, Trump should have touted American success and leadership on fighting climate change without the Paris Climate Accord.

“Increasingly it appears Mr. Trump lacks the focus or self-discipline to do the basic work required of a president,” he closed. “His chronic impulsiveness is apparently unstoppable and clearly self-defeating. Mr. Trump may have mastered the modes of communication, but not the substance, thereby sabotaging his own agenda.”

THE WSJ ARTICLE, if you have access:

Political Death by 1,000 Tweets
Trump has mastered the medium but not the substance. His agenda is at stake.

But I can't deal with the "why did you post that" responses any more.

If you feel that the thread is inappropriate, that it is spreading right wing talking points, send an alert.

Or, hide the thread.

Or, put me on your block list.

I think the reasons for my posting this should be apparent from my thread title and the content itself.

If it's not, you have options.

I honestly don't understand how some people can wall themselves off from what others are saying? ...And then turn around & say the other side lives in a bubble!

Thanks for posting!!

Cause we like the post and thank you for posting it. What Rove says about Republicans, matters, to our efforts to defeat them.

And it is relevant to Democrats to know that Trumps support base is fracturing. That impacts all Republicans and will make it harder for them to push their agenda.

I see it as another crack in the wall - republican establishment folks ready to tell the truth. Hopefully, this kind of statement ups the pressure on congress.........

To my understanding of the big picture, Rubs are dividing...dumpsters versus moderate Rubs. What does this mean to Dems?

Not sure yet, but surely there will be fireworks. Dump goes on offense when ANYONE criticizes him. Is he going to eat his own party?

It belongs to Rupert Murdoch

If Rupert is against any Republican, that Republican has NO chance of being elected to any office.

This suggests that Rupert may be thinking of changing his vote for President Trump.

Mike Dubke recently resigned his position as WH Communications Director. He was a founder of the communications arm (Crossroads Media) of Rove's American Crossroads Super PAC and has long ties with Rove.

Dubke must have unloaded all sorts of info onto Rove leading up to this editorial.

Meanwhile, it's interesting to see that his Hamness has awoken and wonder if he will eventually butt heads with TheGrimReaper™ at some point. He knows that what Drumpf is doing could help feed his own PAC for 2018 if he can establish the side of the GOP that intends on running away from Der Drumpenfuhrer.

And for the brave and fearless, FReeper thread on this subject - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3559312/posts

Not only have they thrown him under the bus, but they have backed up and run him over again, calling him a "Rino stooge" as the most benign characterization. In fact this one (from this page) was a riot -

No kidding. This porker gas bag must really be linked in with the Democrats or they must have something on him. He’s as credible as Maxine Waters or Al Green.
