Gorsuch has unanimous first opinion for Supreme Court

Could not find this story anywhere on DU, but I think it's an important one.

Basically, SCOTUS ruled that buyers of defaulted upon loans are not debt collectors as defined in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and therefore not subject to the requirements of that law.

in order to fuck over the little guy along with the decision which basically allows Wall Street to take your money and keep it?

Are they being held at gun point or something?

Or perhaps collection techniquest have changed to get around the law as originally written (which happens quite a lot - you plug a hole, and someone creates a new one).

So the law needs fix - when the law is statutory court's aren't supposed to create the law, merely interpret what Congress wrote..

I searched for the story before I posted.
Couldn't find it.

I looked for
"debt collection"
not
"debt-collection"

I just remember reading it yesterday since I usually sit on DU's front page and read the news posts most of the time.
