May 25 - 22 days ago - but his cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
He appeared to have a serious head wound (poss. gunshot wound). Is it standard procedure in a suspected murder case to keep the cause of death under wraps while an investigation is underway?
from May 28:
The 37-year-old was discovered with a possible head injury, which may have been the result of a gunshot wound, according to the Miami Herald.
A person strolling the beach spotted the lawyers corpse early Wednesday (May 25), Hollywood police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman revealed the next day. It isnt certain whether Whisenant died at the location, was moved by a person or naturally by the ocean.
A cause of death has yet to be determined by authorities. Since a gunshot wound hasnt been confirmed as the cause of death, accidental, suicide and murder are all possible rulings.
Beranton Whisenant Jr. graduated from the University of Florida Law School in 2004 and joined the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami this past January. He was reportedly working on visa and passport fraud cases prior to his death.

Just...*sigh*, dammit

Suicide does seem to be the most likely reason to me, given her actions in the hours before her presumed time of death. They found her on surveillance videos, seemingly wandering up and down an avenue by herself over the course of several hours, between 9PM and midnight.
Then she ultimately wound up in the park along the Hudson River. I really can't see a woman in her 60's simply deciding to take an evening stroll late on a cold weekday night, in a park located between a river and a highway, one that would largely be empty at that hour/time of year. That would be an inherently risky thing to do late at night along any of the riverside parks here in Manhattan IMO, whatever the neighborhood. (I live a few blocks from part of the East River's stretch of parks.)
To me, these sound like the actions of someone who wasn't exactly worried about her long term safety.
Suicide's a terrible thing for her family to contemplate, especially for her husband, who is an Episcopalian priest. But other than some kind of bizarre accident, it seems the most likely explanation. It's hard to murder someone-if that's what you're thinking-in a way that leaves no physical trace whatsoever. And given that she was a senior member of NYS law enforcement, I believe that the ME would have been extremely thorough in their work.
