The President of the United States has a lawyer 'defending' him in DC but he cannot practice law in DC - WTFF?

Yet, this is now the perverse reality in our nation's most powerful offices.

(2,762 posts)it's hard to take our eyes off. One unbelievable thing after another.
Heard Naomi Klein on NPR the other day - she believes this is another application of the Shock Doctrine that is operating to keep our eyes off what Congress is doing.
They're moving legislation to shred the safety net, end Medicaid, cut SSI, end Meals on Wheels, and of course, gut the ACA. Oh and there's the attempt by the current FCC to gut Net Neutrality and getting rid of the Main Studio rule in broadcasting which would all corporations get rid of a lot more journalists as they cut local radio and TV studios. That'll mean a lot less local news and weather.
I confess I'm spending time I should be on writing to my reps instead obsessing over the latest news, checking Twitter every chance I can and then going to this and other sites for news updates.
I wrote letters constantly during the Bush era - but so far way fewer than I mean to.
