My very smart son firmly believes that Trumpcare is planned euthanasia of poor, unemployed whites. Those who lost their farm and factory jobs and are not getting any training, never going to have another job, those who voted for Trump to save them. They are a "burden" on the system, and the plan is to let them die naturally.
The blue states will take care of their poor, but the red states won't so ironically, they are going to kill their own voters. But not until many of them suffer terribly. Just think of all those who won't get drug treatment if this goes through.
We need a serious boycott of the oligarchs' companies. Don't buy any corporate goods.Bring the oligarchs to their knees. Show them our power. We have the brains and the money. We need to start using it. Marches are lovely, but we need to hit them where it hurts.

(30,481 posts)There are a lot of people in this country making a considerable income. Many are making an insane amount. These taxes are real money to these people and most of them lead lives driven by the need for more. Deaths are just an unintended consequence. Collateral damage.
Edit to add: I agree completely with your call to action. Unfortunately I'm agreeing on my iPhone with my flat screen smart tv on in the background. I have started paying much closer attention to my purchases lately.

While they're still kids with wants and desires, runaway consumerism and material greed has passed right by my boys.

Many years ago I read the book, "Affluenza: The All-Consuming Epidemic." It was eye opening & really made me aware of my own consumerism. The David Horsey cartoons, alone, make the book worth it.

(11,686 posts)be allowed to use it yet. It is always the Repubs that vote against it. If we were allowed to kill ourselves we take their pleasure of doing it. I however do understand your "be careful what you ask for" for it is a slippery slope.

(115,836 posts)although that's likely to be the result. But they (and most of the rest of us) are just collateral damage. The real goal is to provide the maximum benefit to their very wealthy owners. If some people have to die, well, that's just too bad.

(15,223 posts)Like many Democrats in a place like Texas, I'm one of the ones in the age group who will suffer most. I'm all for doing my part, but I don't think we should have to get shit upon because all of the rednecks around us don't have any scruples. I'm madder than hell.

Thank you John McCain for hoisting that demented woman on us all BTW.

(13,154 posts)Planned extermination is quite different. The deaths will be scattered over time and space, making them less noticeable. Perhaps more perniciously, people will get really shitty insurance policies for lower rates than the quality programs under the aca they replace, but only those who get seriously sick will suffer. The pain again will be spread out.

(15,805 posts)Republicans are targeting the poor because they believe that most are black. Look at all the groups that will be most heavily impacted by these cuts; the disabled, those with mental health issues, and the youngest and eldest among us. Republicans see them as unworthy, undesirable, and unimportant enough that they do not deserve to live in their brave new world.
What the Republicans are doing in blowing up the social safety net is no less than the first step in implementing ethnic cleansing and state sponsored eugenics.

(1,990 posts)Euthanasia means a good death, with minimal or no suffering. What they want is suffering then death. They are very much pro-suffering (until they are adversely affected in which case they might change their tune). The suffering that incurs isn't a drawback to them, but rather a highlight.
