(32,707 posts)multiple warning signs, from all directions should be posted that say TRUCKS PROHIBITED / LOW CLEARANCE in 1000ft, 500ft, etc. The final intersection should have a stop sign to force drivers to read the warnings.

(9,070 posts)There's no way to expect signs or warning to make any difference.
Can you imagine getting insurance on trucks in that county?

(45,488 posts)sanitary lift station isn't the most expensive project in the world. Most likely, this is the "it's always been that way" attitude that is common excuse not to fix something correctly.

It's got a protective I-beam, but just means someone will have to use a bigger hammer.

(237 posts)Near where I lived. Usually if a truck got stuck it was after it was under, and could get it out by deflating the tires*. Finally they lowered the road by literally scraping down the road surface to make the bridge "higher".
* Of course, I did see a car transport once put the bottom of the bridge literally through the windshield of a new Lexus.

These videos are pretty funny from a voyeur perspective. I'd love to hear the driver's conversation with the police officer. I'd also love to be there when the driver returns the truck!
Actually, I wonder if the local truck rental companies warn the renters about the bridge. On the occasions that I've rented truck or cargo vans, the rental agents have always reminded me that these are commercial vehicles that cannot be driven on parkways (in NY).

(17,181 posts)You know, have vendors selling hot dogs, pizza slices (Lily's is right down the street), popcorn, peanuts, sodas, little "11-8" flags, T-shirts, stuff like that. A nice, wholesome family outing for the day, cheering on your favorite trucks (even though the bridge always wins).
