(14,565 posts)these scumbags being dirty as sin, which is pretty darn obvious at this point, in too many ways to count.
AND ...
Something actually happening to them.
Too many people don't get how close we are to republicans just saying "fuck it" and going COMPLETELY (cause one foot is already) off the norms of american government reservation.

(70,120 posts)might be good w it. a true list of his high crimes, and prison sentence for a couple dozen minions and i MIGHT feel like justice was done.
i need a frog march and an orange suit to be truly satisfied that justice is blind, tho.

If, and only if it's politically expedient. If Trump doing time is what the feckless base of the GOP wants, that's what will happen. If Trump doing time assists the GOP in what will have to be a re-branding of their image, that is what will happen.
Additionally, though Nixon commanded little loyalty, Trump commands none.
LOL Lib
(1,462 posts)At least that is my understanding.
The constitutional language governing pardons reads, The President
shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
Only a state governor could pardon trump for offenses against said state.

Hopefully he runs afoul of crimes against ny state and AG Schneiderman puts him behind bars.

Re. Schindler. Why would the person (trusted member of trump's inner circle) go around telling people he knows he's going to jail?? He may be guilty as can be, but there is still due process etc etc etc.

Also with the pardon power at his fingertips Trump doesn't believe any of them are going to jail.

(11,257 posts)I have no idea who John Schindler is, other than a vague reference to a "netsec" writer, and this just screams "too good to be true."
It also makes no logician sense. Even if Trump knew it to be true, he's not going to say it out loud, and he's WAY too delusional to think such a thing.
pnwmom
(108,980 posts)Presumably that would be Jared, and IF AND ONLY IF this is true, Jared would be in the best position to know if DT were equally culpable.
It would have to be a NY based offense, because Pence's pardon powers wouldn't go that far. But this is conceivable, what with DTs casino-linked money-laundering past.

(51,129 posts)He actually cannot shoot people in the street when he wants, or other delusions of grandeur he proclaims. He can be indicted just like you or me, albeit he has some brief protections from proceedings while in office, nothing more. And any constitutional pardon powers of the federal system do not apply to state crimes.

That said... just based on the language of the tweets, this doesn't actually point to action. "I'm sure we're going to jail" can mean "I've done slimy things and I'm afraid I might get caught." Particularly if it's, say, Kushner -- who's not really known for his expertise about, well... anything. Just an idiot with a guilty conscience (guilty as in "I know I did it," not "I regret doing it." And Schindler's tweet... well, 200 countries could turn over tapes of 45 actually talking about bribery; it still would require the GOP to do something about him. And they won't. Period.
My feeling is that when they've decided he's an anchor on their reelection chances, they'll start turning more and more to a medical excuse. (And the fact that he's suddenly spent a boatload of cash on attack ads against Republican senators who are opposing the wealthcare bill just might be the anchor we need!)
That said... I'll take the hope and run with it!
