**************Now THIS is a Leader************
Justin Trudeau seemed firmly committed to be the dreamiest ― and queer-friendliest ― public leader in the north-western hemisphere on Sunday.
The Canadian Prime Minster began the day at a Faith And Pride ceremony at Torontos Metropolitan Community Church.
He then marched in the Toronto Pride Parade, along with his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau and their children Xavier and Ella-Grace.
Trudeau, who was decked out in Ramadan-themed socks which read Eid Mubarak and wore a rainbow maple leaf on his cheek, spoke to reporters before the parade began about his presence at the annual event.
We celebrate the multiple layers of identities that make Canada extraordinary and strong and today we celebrate with the entire LGBTQ community, he said.

(I only know a dozen words of French, so if I have left off important diacritical marks out of ignorance, excusez-moi.)

But I've never been a swooner. I don't care how my politicians look in bathing suits, I don't care if they're "cool."
I just want honest people who do what's right.

(83,790 posts)That he embraces a member of pride with love an affection and a huge heartfelt hug. No reservations, not one. I wish our leaders were like that today yet they wallow in fear and hate. Trudeau and his family, like most of us know that love is love and it always will be.
Kudos to Canada. You are an example for us all.

(114 posts)Trudeau is why I wore a Canada '150' hat to my recent trip to France. I didn't want the Europeans to know I was from the US. That wouldn't have happened a year ago. As an ex Marine, I would prefer Bush to Bozo as a commander in chief.

(54,405 posts)They were both on vacation at the same spot in Mexico. Being a member of the Washington press, and a correspondent from upstate New York, he recognized Trudeau immediately. My dad went up him, said, "I just wanted you to know I am a member of the Washington press, I know who you are, and that I will not bother you in the least while you are here on vacation." Trudeau smiled and thanked my dad profusely.
Fast forward a few months, and there is some big event on the St. Lawrence Seaway that my dad was covering. Nixon, whom my dad knew from when he was Eisenhower's VP, spotted my dad, and motioned him over. Thinking he would play the big host, he told my dad, "Hey, have you met the Prime Minister of Canada?" Trudeau immediately recognized my dad, and they both told Nixon, "yes, we've met before." The wind taken out of his sails, Nixon said, "oh," and slunk off, giving both my dad and Trudeau a good laugh.

Smith is a Canadian professor of major distinction.

STOP IT. I DON'T HAVE A MANCRUSH ON JUSTIN TRUDEAU. I DON'T.
I for sure do not in any manner picture him galloping shirtless on a horse, tousled raven locks fluttering in the breeze, delivering social justice, manly hugs, and affordable healthcare to oppressed countries with less-than-fit leaders who eat KFC. You know, should those exist... IT'S JUST A METAPHOR!

The Transgender Pride, Pride and Canada 150 Pride flags flew after a ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on June 14, 2017. It is just one of the Pride festivities occurring across the country this year.
