A senator who supports the bill left the meeting at the White House with a sense that the president did not have a grasp of some basic elements of the Senate plan and seemed especially confused when a moderate Republican complained that opponents of the bill would cast it as a massive tax break for the wealthy, the Times reported a senate staffer revealed.
The senator also said that Trump said he would navigate tax reform later, and seemed to ignore the tax implications that are part of the new health bill.
Trump then went on to declare victory of the meeting.
I just finished a great meeting with the Republican Senators concerning HealthCare, he tweeted. They really want to get it right, unlike OCare!
If we dont get it done its just going to be something that were not going to like and thats OK and I understand that very well, Trump said before the press was asked to leave the meeting.

(10,252 posts)Republican Trump tells a few lies, does a little softshoe dance, slips on a banana peel. Look at the expression on Murkowski's face. If only she could throw an iron skillet at him.

(16,423 posts)You get hired, you do the job, he takes credit, you get fired.
Trump doesn't care about details.
He doesn't care about sabotaging the people who work for him.
He cares so little about what the people working for him are actually doing that he doesn't even know how to HIRE qualified people.
You are asking for proof?
Here's an example: Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
Trump knows so little about what's the problem, that he thinks he can hire random people to take care of it.
Another example: WH-staff.
The climate is toxic and full of backstabbing, and all Trump is noticing from the workplace is that nothing gets done.

(54,426 posts)It's one of those philosophical questions, like "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?"
If Trump says he has a net worth of $7 billion and debts of $9 billion, is he rich? I guess the answer is, "if he plans to enege on his debts, then he is rich."
It is true after all: steal $100, and you're a criminal. Steal $100 million, and you're a hero.

(54,426 posts)I haven't lived in the States for years now. In Germany, it's the opposite. Rob a store and bash the owner's head in with a baseball bat, you get 6 months, suspended. In France, it's even crazier. A shop owner I knew was attacked, in his shop, by a Bulgarian "regular customer" with a hammer. He was 70 years old, but managed to grab the hammer from his attacker while blood was streaming from his head, and subdue the Bulgarian with it. The Bulgarian was let off on the name of "tolerance" and the shop owner was charged with assault and battery (happy ending: not convicted).

(14,855 posts)It wasn't Trump being a "political genius" to win their support early in the GOP primaries. He was just repeating the garbage that he saw on FOX and the FOX-bot voters approved it.

I read their mobile news to compare what garbage they are reporting. It is not as bad as TV. Guess they figure their audience can't or don't read.

Trump simply opens his mouth and things come out and then we get to see Reince Priebus at the other end of the table, telling him how blessed he is to have a job in his administration.
"Ahhhh...BACH."

(16,869 posts)When he was pushed about the details of his plan in an interview around the time of the election, it was blatantly obvious that he had no concept of the problems with the ACA and his "magnificent plan" was nothing more than buzzwords and campaign jargon....it would be magnificent because it would have his name attached to it, essentially.
The anti-intellectuals have won this round with Trump as president. He doesn't have either the intellect or the desire to learn the intricacies of this bill. His sole motivation is closing the deal, a win. He's the convenient idiot for the GOP's Randian wet dreams.
If these fuckers stay in power, look for them to dismantle Medicare and SS in similar fashion
