Attacks Washington Post, Amazon over internet taxes

By Catherine Lucey
AP June 28 at 1:25 PM

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump attacked The Washington Post and Amazon on Twitter Wednesday, arguing that the online retailer was not paying “internet taxes.”

Trump stated on Twitter Wednesday: “The #AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred to as the guardian of Amazon not paying internet taxes (which they should) is FAKE NEWS!”

It was not immediately clear what Trump meant by “internet taxes.” The White House declined to answer questions about the president’s statement.

Amazon.com collects state sales taxes in all 45 states with a sales tax and the District of Columbia, according to their website ...

12. If they have a brick/mortar presence in the state, and the state requires collection of taxes, they

collect.

Brick and mortar presence is a transshipment facility, warehouse, corporate offices etc.

What's bizarre about Trump's tweet is that he appears to be THREATENING Bezos w/IRS retaliation, and at the same time, he apparently doesn't understand that the GOP HATES the idea of an internet tax....they don't like any sorts of taxes if they can avoid them.

He's being an illegally threatening bully AND pissing off his base at the same time!

He's probably considering a special new tax for online businesses only. Gotta make up for tax breaks to billionaires somehow, yunno.
