By ESME CRIBB Published JULY 2, 2017 10:38 AM
White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert on Sunday insisted President Donald Trumps tweeted video of himself attacking a figure with the CNN logo for a face is certainly not a threat and just shows that hes a genuine person.
Asked to respond on ABCs This Week to the tweet shortly after Trump posted it, Bossert said it was his first time seeing the post.
My first reaction to that tweet would be the same as any of the Presidents tweets, he said. Im pretty proud of the President for developing a Twitter and a social media platform where he can talk directly to the American people. He said Trump is the most genuine president and the most non-politician president that weve seen in my lifetime.
Is that the kind of communication you want? That hes beating up on somebody? That hes beating up on the media? Martha Raddatz asked. That seems like a threat.
Certainly not, though. I think that no one would perceive that as a threat. I hope they dont, Bossert said.

(4,103 posts)Trump is just one twitter meltdown away from showing up to one of his pep rallies wearing nothing but a robe and wrestling boots and starting to fling his shit around the stage while yelling "I'm the President and their not"

(31,404 posts)This shit show needs to close. Soon. Now. Yesterday.
There are so many issues to address. Real needs.
"Genuine person." Really. I'd say he's more of a genuine a$$hole.
He is debasing the office of the President of the United States. And his supporters are debasing the entire country by continuing to support
this malignant narcissistic man baby.
It's just disgusting.

(45,020 posts)Zucker is a longtime Trump pal... and sometimes it seems that all this kerfuffle is cheap entertainment designed to opiate and distract. Who knows what the fuck to believe anymore. Maybe it would help if journalism was more vigilant drumming out the phonies, flaks and propagandists among themselves.

(22,431 posts)social media? GIFs! It's not a dumb move, in their minds, because they're focused on metrics, not content. GIFs are easily understood, easy to share, and are seen as a cool way to communicate. For his team, this tweet is a good one.

(36,112 posts)I don't mean his ardent supporters, just garden variety FOX watching GOPers and religious fundamentalists who didn't want Hillary.
The only way those people will know what Trump is doing is if FOX covers it
His use of social media is important for fanning the culture war flames, but I think he knows FOX will spin it with the necessary slant so his supporters don't see how disgusting he really is

(1,178 posts)Trump has so many sycophant's beneath him that he's using that it's sickening. There can be no way these people are really believing what they're saying in order to defend that guy. Even more sickening is these people think Trump is going to be forever loyal to them. It's as if they know they'll have hell to pay if they don't constantly defend him.

Too many people are hoping the country will be abe to ride out Trump's brand of unbalanced behavior but that kind of thinking only serves to enable the damage caused by someone like Trump.
You don't allow someone as unstable as Trump that much power and come out the other side without bloodshed.
He doesn't have to be the one who pulls the trigger or who wields the knife, as long as he can manipulate others to do it for him - he still gets the gratification from it. And the violence doesn't even have to be that direct for someone like Trump - they are just as happy making people miserable to the point of their lives being ruined. His perceived "enemies", especially, being attacked and harmed will also give him pleasure.
Anonymous faces of people who will die from the lack of medical care won't even register with someone like Trump. They aren't real to him anyway. But he'll take the praise and adoration for being the one who scored a victory.
Doesn't matter how many die from drones - it's the dropping of the drone that matters to Trump. He feels tough and in control. He gets pleasure from it.
Same with bombs. He gets to say - "I dropped a bomb." "I commanded a bomb to be dropped and it was dropped." The death caused is way down the list to the high he gets from the feelings of being powerful and in control over who lives and who dies. Because that is the ultimate power trip for someone like Trump - you control who lives and who dies.
"You're fired" is just a small-scale example of this. If you're fired in some fields, your termination can permanently put a black-mark on your career goals. And Mister "I alone can fix this" has all the power to make or break your entire future. Yeah, it's a reality show and it was all for show - but Trump needs to feel in control, so the show catered to his unstable need to completely dominate people.
The show channeled his urges in an environment that was staged but no less gratifying to Trump's ego and his need to crush people.
Now that deadly and cavernous need is on a real world stage and there are no cuts or edits. There are no do-overs.
Real people. Real lives. Real death. Real harm. Real destruction.
And Mike Pence is absolutely no better. He's just better at cloaking his warped ego and its underlying cruelty. (and anyone hoping to usher in theocracy is mentally unstable in my book)
