Reporter flooded with 'gory' death threats after revealing neo-Nazi creator of Trump's CNN tweet

TRAVIS GETTYS
03 JUL 2017 AT 10:16 ET

The reporter who revealed the “obviously racist” and antisemitic Reddit user who created the animated image of President Donald Trump body-slamming CNN has been deluged with death threats.

Jared Yates Sexton, a journalist who teaches writing and linguistics at Georgia Southern University, reported Sunday that the president had shared an internet meme created by a Reddit user called “HanAssholeSolo.”

That person made frequent racist and threatening posts on Reddit, including one earlier this month identifying Jewish employees of CNN.

Sexton tweeted Monday that he had gotten numerous threats — often accompanied by antisemitic and Nazi themes — since revealing the meme’s creator.

“Now articles are showing up on Neo-Nazi websites, there are videos spliced with Goebbels telling me not to test his patience,” Taylor tweeted. “That one also has footage from Natural Born Killers of a journalist being executed by shotgun. On forums, under my tweets, there’s a list of excerpts from newspaper articles about journalists being slaughter, the details gory.”

Sure, it seems like every Trump supporter is some kind of Nazi, teeth-cracking mad to have missed his first shot at the Third Reich, and slavering at the second chance. But some of them, I assume, are good people. It's just that if one of our fellow citizens is a Nazi, he seems irresistibly drawn to the Trump administration. For some reason.

Death threats and the like seem to go out to anyone who expresses anything but conservative ideas. There are such threats almost everywhere these days, and most people who are liberal or progressive and who speak out online have received such replies.

They're alarming, to be sure. Fortunately, most of them are spewed by cowards and loudmouths, who have no intention of actually doing anything about their threats. There is the odd exception now and then, but that's very rare. It's the people who don't post their bilious and misspelled threats who are the real concern.

Not too long ago, something I wrote here caused someone at another place to write how he wanted to take me out and beat me to a pulp, and similar nonsense. Within about an hour, I discovered who the person was in real life (it wasn't difficult). He was deathly ill at the time (learned on his Facebook page), and has since died. I was never worried about the person, but was curious, so I did some basic sleuthing.

That wasn't the first time, and probably won't be the last time someone responds to something I've said with a burst of distorted anger and hatred. Oh, well. When it happens, I go looking to see who the person behind the screen name is. Typically, I discover that there's no reason to be concerned about anything happening. Not always, but usually.

of war are everywhere. They are out of the closet and proud to be Nazis with the great orange leader. It seems they are multiplying really fast. The vast numbers and their leader legitimize them to themselves and new recruits. Worst of all, they are raising their little children to be like them. Their children must see them as correct because they are winning at everything...they have control and it is snowballing, while they protect their own.

They teach their kids to hate, but they're not winning at everything. They're not controlling so many things, which is why il Douche A spends so much time rage-tweeting against the press, intel, law enforcement, the courts, protestors, all political opponents, etc.

If they had their 10%, they wouldn't need to resort to bot-farms to pretend they have large numbers of committed followers.

Their high profile hate crime numbers are up, but those wack jobs were already there. And they go off like time bombs, not able to hold themselves together for the big take-over they're anticipating.
