Just cannot watch any mainstream media political coverage. It is so bad and the characters are too despicable to watch. It is almost like this reality is the new normal as abnormal and insane as it is. The RW wing is just plain evil and at war with the country.
None of these assholes would have been on the air anywhere in the US before 1970. It just makes you sick seeing and hearing all the vomit 24/7. Hayes, Maddow and Odonnel are the only shows credible. Otherwise you are stuck in a sea of shit.
There are so many hateful, crazy and destructive memes put out without push back it is not even funny. The country seems so screwed up right now. And this Trump trip is just too embarrassing and seems to be treated as somewhat normal.

(1,660 posts)Yes he is biased with a liberal slant. But he reports more seriously on political topics and also includes other topics.
Cnn and its "lets hear from both sides" approach, even when they other side is a stark mad raging bear, is a turn off.
I get bbc news and sky news and sometimes will watch them if I want to see live news.

(21,172 posts)I might watch a segment or 10 minutes but I no longer watch 3 hours. The only news I watch is some local and vice news on hbo the 30 minutes cover the US but they give a good reporting of news all over the world. I would recommend vice.

(18,402 posts)I read the New York Times every day, as well as articles from the Washington Post. Plus a few websites (TPM, Vox). If I turn to television at all, it is to a brief dose of PBS NewsHour. Otherwise, I avoid the cable talk outlets pretty much altogether (I don't consider any of them to be "news" , unless some crisis story is breaking. There's enough chatter here on DU to keep me updated on the daily shenanigans of cable shows.
I find that watching TV political chatter is very stress inducing, and for what? It's mostly only chitter chatter and conjecture. I can get all the information I need from newspapers and I don't need to have my opinions about the news reinforced: I am perfectly capable of forming my own opinions and sticking to them. Neither do I ever need to tune into opposing opinions: I don't need the rush of yelling at the TV.
My days of being addicted to cable news during the Bush years have been long gone. I found it got me nowhere but roused or agitated. And who needs that. I'm glad I beat that addiction.
