Can We Stop Playing Pretend Now?

Seriously, GOP – enough is enough. And in this case, “enough” was already too much months ago.

We all understand that you feel duty-bound to keep slathering lipstick on the pig you elected. But we’re way past the point where anyone with an IQ above that of a houseplant is buying your schtick.

Can we stop pretending that Donald Trump has ever been “presidential” – ever? For the past six months, he has acted the bully, the buffoon, the mewling crybaby, the beyond-ignorant idiot who literally has NO idea what he’s talking about. His every statement is an embarrassment; his every action a humiliation to our country and its citizens.

Can we stop pretending that Trump is “intelligent”, or even street savvy? Can we dispense with this ludicrous pretence that he even possesses a modicum of common sense? Even your average houseplant knows better than to keep digging the hole they’re already planted in – and yet your Idiot Boy keeps “tweeting” himself further into the ground day after day. An “intelligent” man under investigation for what is now a myriad of potential crimes doesn’t spend his every waking hour tightening the noose around his own neck.

Can we stop pretending that the man who tweets “covfefe” and can’t find his own limo – parked right in front of his god-damned nose! – is mentally stable? Can we stop pretending that a man who insists on having his daily briefings shortened to bullet points rendered in Crayolas has the attention span necessary to govern a nation? Can we stop pretending that a man who doesn’t know the difference between an executive order and a bill actually understands the workings of our government, no less the responsibilities of his office?

Given the events of the past week – Idiot Boy’s public fellating of Putin, followed by the publication of Donnie Jr.’s emails – can we finally stop pretending that the accusations of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians is “fake news”? Can we drop this charade of pretending there’s no “there” there? After throwing our own intelligence agencies under the bus – repeatedly – Idiot Boy greeted the man responsible for tampering with our election process by saying, “It’s an honor to be with you,” while promoting the idea that we should cooperate with the very people who have attempted to undermine our democracy in order to – get this! – put an end to people attempting to undermine our democracy. Even that dumbass houseplant would be far too smart to suggest such a thing.

Come on, GOP. You read the same headlines we all do: “America no longer seen as world leader”, “USA’s global status in decline”. You’ve seen the same photos we have – Trumplethinskin isolated and alone while world leaders discuss global challenges amongst themselves, knowing that he’s not the least bit interested in anything other than his next golf game – fully aware that even if he were included in the conversation, the subject matter would be too far over his head for him to comprehend anyway.

Face it, Republicans. Your Idiot Boy has now proven beyond all doubt that he is a dumbass – and a treasonous dumbass at that. He has not only demonstrated his stupidity – he has, time and again, demonstrated his willingness to align himself with the foreign adversarial power that stands accused of cyber warfare against our country.

While you Republicans busy yourselves with important tasks – like taking healthcare away from millions of Americans in order to give more tax-breaks to the wealthy – can you at least agree to end the avalanche of bullshit? Can you at least stop pretending that a self-serving, narcissistic, dumb-as-shit, pathological liar is anything more than that? Can you – at the very least – stop insulting the intelligence of our countrymen, as well as the citizens of the world, by insisting that the blatantly obvious ISN’T BLATANTLY OBVIOUS?

Your continued insistence that Trump’s mouth is NOT – as Stephen Colbert so eloquently put it – “Putin’s cock-holster” has now been proven wrong. Your Idiot Boy sank to his knees and sucked-and-swallowed in front of the entire world. Your “Art of the Deal” whore proved that the only “deal” he’s interested in is selling-out his country to the man who made his illegitimate “pResidency” possible.

So just STOP. STOP pretending that the asshole you nominated, elected, and continue to support – the asshole who handed over classified information to the Russians while standing in the Oval Office – isn’t the treasonous bastard we all know he is. STOP pretending that he is intelligent, patriotic, or capable of understanding the duties of his office. STOP pretending that he has the common sense to stop digging the hole he’s already in – while using every piece of heavy-duty earth-moving equipment available to do so.

Playing pretend is fun when you’re an eight-year-old with a big cardboard box - something that, with a bit of imagination and creativity, can be transformed into a colonial fort, a medieval castle, or a remote Arctic outpost. But when you’re a nation who used to be the leader of the free world that has now been reduced to a soggy, rain-drenched pile of paper standing on the curb awaiting the garbage truck, playing pretend is just a sad reminder of what used to be.

He is Congress's distraction & a vehicle for promoting social strife. People like Vladimir Putin and the Koch Brothers want him to keep right on doing exactly what he's doing. So by extension, so does the GOP Congress. Plus, they get a piece of the pie, too.

And when Congress doesn't act to stop him, it only weakens our confidence in our government. Again, exactly what some very wealthy, powerful people want. They don't want a functioning government. They don't want a society that protects anyone. They want divisions and strive and hostility. Because it lets them gather even more wealth, more power and more control over everyone else.

I do agree that the only deal he's interested in is selling out his country to the man who made his presidency possible. He's certain not a brain trust, but he's not completed idiot either. A good bit of that is an act IMHO. Dance the part of the buffoon while all the while picking pockets.

His kids are clearly evil incarnate in my opinion.

Only an idiot would persist in causing one self-inflicted wound after another.

Look at the incredibly damning statements and events of the past six months, and the endless "tweets" that not only kept negative news alive, but actually fueled it - and the consequences thereof.

Only a complete Idiot would keep throwing gasoline on EVERY SINGLE FIRE - without exception - that threatens his own "pResidency". Only a complete Idiot would FEED the conflagration that surrounds him, rather than allowing those fires to burn themselves out - which many of them might have, had he only kept his own mouth shut.

If Trump is merely "acting" like an Idiot, it's the best acting job I've ever seen since the Oscar Awards were initiated.

And the question remains: If this is an "act", why is he acting in ways that undermine his own words, his own actions, his own positions - instead of acting like someone with a brain?

You may be entirely correct.

I just can't picture anyone at that level being THAT incompetent. Perhaps a block on my part. I'm just more apt to believe he is deliberately fanning flames to we can't see past the fire... to whatever the hell he's doing behind it.

Well that and he makes Jr high kids look mature. Calling him a drama queen insults drama queens.

I don't think it needs to be 50/50 or even 90/10. It can be both. One can be a blithering idiot, but being born with a 24K gold spoon in one's mouth, and being born at the right time to be around for the industrial real estate boom, makes one lucky enough to be a buffoon without a conscience. Hence an idiot and conniving predator. The latter wasn't the result of some mental acuity, but vastly more a matter of luck.

I'm entirely converted to the "complete idiocy" idea now. Months of unrelenting stupidity, self-destructive tweets, multiple instances of Dump's literally walking in a fog-like state have convinced me.

I know people don't want to believe that the pResident of the United States is a moron. It reflects on our country on the world stage; we've seen that just last week at the G20. NOBODY WANTED TO TALK TO HIM. Nobody TRUSTS him. It's damned embarrassing.

Unfortunately he IS a moron, and a dangerous one.

The deeper we dig, we will find that a lot of PAC money came from Russia. They have their jobs because of Russian interference - same as Trump. A lot of their extremist support organizations (i.e., fundamental churches, the NRA, KKK, neo-Nazis, Briebert) are bought and paid for by Russia. They are all fucking in on it and have all knowingly benefited. And if it is not Russia alone, it is criminal oligarchs with a Russian influence.

The majority of the GOP and many of the forces that support them are profiting from this Russian money and they will not waver in their fronting for Russia - IMO.

with everything you've written. But the sobering truth is:

that the latest polling shows that DT has 84% approval of the Republican electorate.

84%. After all the shit that has hit the fan, the GOP still clocks in approval of the madness, the rank nepotism, the startling affection for Putin&Co, the corruption, the lies, the whole ball of yucky wax because . . .

I have no explanation though the late news mentioned Stockholm Syndrome. It's like a crazy virus that has infected 40% of the population, the same people who have decided that a college education is a bad thing for America.

These are not reachable people. All the posts begging Dems to 'reach out,' understand, be more empathetic to the plight of middle America.

Sorry, it's a lost enterprise. The few Republicans who would listen to reason are the Never Trumpers, people who did not lose heir minds last year and can actually see the awfulness of what this piss poor excuse for a presidency actually is, has always been and continues to be.

Solution?

2018 is racing towards us. Anyone who is on the fence, wobbly, cannot make up their mind is certainly not a Dem. let alone a sane, reality-based American. Forget all the horses shit about making the Democratic Party the perfect party or throwing out our leadership because they're old, not with it or not effectively engaging our younger members. We're in existential event mode, as a country, a Republic. We can get into purity mode once we win. But right now? We whip our membership, we canvas, we scream to the heavens. We do everything humanly possible and we take back Congress.

We end the madness. Before it ends us.

The 84% of Republicans who embrace the craziness in the WH? Fuck 'em!

I agree. So what to do?

I like Dan Savage's idea I heard him propose on Bill Maher, even though it was taken as a little crazy/radical by the other guests, and Maher.

And that is to write off rural America.

Yes shocking. But the fact is it is the larger cities where more people live. And where more with liberal views live. They are naturally more tolerant as they are exposed to so much more diversity. They are better educated, more informed. If the Democratic Party focused their resources into the cities. Poured all their efforts and money into them and worked on getting out the vote harder there, Democrats would win no problem.

Rural America is a lost cause at this point. Especially in middle America. Of course I'm speaking in generalities. But on the whole they are brainwashed with hate radio and Fox News 24/7 and are drunk on the koolaid, and will NEVER abandon Trump or the GOP regardless of anything. Even treason.

Their base of ignorant voters thinks Trump is going to save them from Big Gummit, even though they have no idea what Gummit does. Meanwhile, McConnell and Ryan are waving the red cape of repealing the ACA, using it to distract everyone as the GOP dismantles our country and its institutions. Get rid of the EPA, pull out of the Paris Climate Accords, more fraking, more coal mining, tax cuts for the rich, food stamp cuts for the poor, get rid of the minimum wage and child labor laws, and on and on.

By the time we impeach Trump, give Pence a couple of years before impeaching him or voting him out of office, there will be nothing of the US to save. Instead we will have oligarchs and serfs. And the serfs will be nothing more than interchangeable parts, with no health care, subsistence wages, and early death. Meanwhile, the oligarchs will continue to rape and pillage what is left of the US, until climate change kills us all.

The GOP has painted itself into a corner whilst the conservative media tries to draw a working door onto one of the walls with a crayon.

We have to understand a simple fact. Trump is the GOOD guy to the Fox-guzzling Righties out there. The harder we try to expose his criminal ways the more he will be seen as a victim of unfairness and witch-hunt-ery.

Don jr himself said to Hannity that he was simply trying to investigate the 'under reported' wrong doings of the Clinton and Obama era by contacting the Russians. The counter-narrative will tell of chronic and perpetual victim status assigned to the Trumps for simply trying to do good for all.

Poor Donald. He's trying SO hard. Democrats and snowflakes block him at every turn because they want America to stay shabby and un-great. I'm not sure why. Probably because the Left is so full of hate. ( what's the symbol for dripping with sarcasm?)
