What other way is there qualify what is going on?
Eight years of "He used mustard! He said 'uh' in a speech. IMPEACH!" for Obama but then saying that Trump's "presidential" for not wetting himself in public. And I'm not just referring to the right, but to the media as well.
"We need peace and love and friendship with Putin" so we can wage apocalypse, death, and destruction against 1.8 billion Muslims. Because that makes perfect sense. Morality and logistics-wise.
Seeing the arts and the sciences descend into hocking erection pills.
People who want universal healthcare and education are "idealistic kooks", but the alt-right/far-right and others who think Punishment Park and the Purge are instructional videos are being normalized by our government.
The people who cheer Trumpcare's tax cuts because they're "temporarily not-rich" and they will all become billionaires any day now while telling Ali Chandra that it would just be "cheaper to make a new kid" than to care for her sick child, care made easier because of the ACA.
I just hope we don't use the "take back our country" line the right wing liked to use so much, because so much of it has become, frankly, a cesspool.
I'm also not a complete downer, I do want us to win in 2018 and 2020, but I just don't want to reach out to the people who advocate those things above, I hope they fail. And I don't want my tax money going to help pick them back up. I didn't always think this, but now it's become inescapable for me when I think about our political situation. Probably because those things above are all horrible examples of the worst we've got, it's just the last one with Ali Chandra demonstrated to me that we've got a large group of people in the US who are not any better than Daesh.
They really aren't.
