NPR union members getting deep cuts in compensation, despite growing audience

From Joe Shapiro's FB page:

"We've got a small staff at NPR. We're scrappy and smart and proud to do so much valuable journalism, with few resources. Lately, we've seen double-digit growth of audience. We are now running a budget surplus, after years in the red. Employees helped out in the Recession by giving up pay raises, agreeing to cuts to our retirement plan (which were never restored, as expected) and taking furlough days. Now we're being asked to accept deep reversals of workplace rights and benefits--that seem to ignore what we've accomplished together."
