Wait a minute, Senator Collins

She was just interviewed in the halls of Congress and asserted that Obama made a mistake when "he passed the bill" (the ACA) without a single Republican vote. I call bullshit on her.

Republicans had many, many amendments added to the bill after over 100 hearings.

After all that, the Republicans all voted against the bill. It was their decision to to fold their arms against their chests and say "no". So, Senator Collins, you can stuff your observations where the sun doesn't shine.

She really set me off.

The Republican Party is nothing more than a Fascist Criminal enterprise. Each and everyone of them would have been waving the Nazi Flag if they had been raised during that era of Germany. Republicans are the scum of he earth and without a shred of decency. Trump is their Fuhrer and they are his boot licking henchmen.

It's hard for them to argue that Democrats didn't listen to them. As for them not voting on it, that was their choice, but it's not like Democrats should have to ask Republicans permission to make progress, especially when they insist on standing in the way of progress all the time and had no real argument to vote against the ACA (or anything else for that matter) other than they didn't want President Obama and Democrats to have a major legislative policy win.

I was feeling like such a hot head when I posted the op. I was too angry to even begin to put it as well as you have.

It's not like it was a very long time ago. We all recall how much cud chewing was going on with all the hearings, discussions about amendments and on and on. So for Collins to craft this lie today about Obama failing to be inclusive - well, it was too much.

They don't deserve a single Dem vote since Dems have been completely cut out of the sausage making this time around. They're too afraid of what will be leaked from day to day. And it's all because of what the Republicans want to do to us instead of for us.

And a lot of the "problems" with ACA would go away or be much milder if Republicans would immediately stop their intentional sabotage. Stop withholding CSR payments (or threatening to). Stop making it harder for Navigators to help people sign up for the exchanges. Stop failing to promote the open enrollment periods. Reinstate the high risk corridors.

Susan Collins. Lindsey Graham. John McCain. I don't trust any of them.

They can't decide what to do. Be good Republicans and fall in line with Trump, or else distance themselves a bit in case the bottom eventually falls out. So they talk big and do nothing.

Either way, one things for sure. They are looking out for themselves; not any of us.

She has a habit of folding under pressure from senate Republican leaders. She's done it for years. I don't think she can be counted on until the voting is closed. I have more confidence in people like Capito and Heller who come from states with large percentages of Medicaid and near Medicaid recipients. Maybe Murkowski, too.

But they are all Republicans, so you really can't count on any of them until the voting is over.

Gawd, what whiners. Don't let them make this about Obama....the republican party has stood firm that lawful, equal, fair health care coverage is not in the best interest of the American people at large. That's been their message since the 1971 when Ted Kennedy began introducing bills for health care coverage for all.

Rubio's whittling the subsidies is one of the worst. And that was done more recently. They still blame the ACA for the wickedness of this change. From what I've read it's why the insurance companies have left certain areas of the country.

Single payer is the only thing that makes sense anymore.

Why don't the negligent MSM (and even most Dems) knee jerk counter this Republican grudegpoint head on everytime? It's so frustrating

Not only did Obama continually and quite publicly beg Republicans to contribute, he actually used THEIR plan from the Heritage Foundation/Romneycare as the paradigm for ACA>

ACA passed without one single Republican vote bkz republicans refused to vote for their own plan. Please, somebody, say this out loud on teevee!

And PS Maybe also counter the ACA "deathspiral" prop by stating the CBO says ACA is fine, only weakened by Republican sabotage
like not funding the risk corridors as promised and denying Medicare expansion in the cruellest Republican states.

I have heard some of your points on tv and radio but not as often as they should be said nor emphatically enough. Every day would not be too often, imo.

I so agree with the denial of Medicaid expansion as being cruel. The fact that we don't have coverage for all is also cruel in a country as wealthy as America.
