Did they think we wouldn't notice? Senate Republicans exempt themselves from parts of Trumpcare

Senate Republicans included a provision that exempts members of Congress and their staff from part of their latest health care plan.

This exemption could have the effect of ensuring that members of Congress have coverage for a wider array of benefits than other Americans who purchase their own coverage.

A Senate Republican aide confirmed that the exemption existed but was unable to comment as to the specific effect it would have. The aide said it was included to ensure that the bill hewed to the chamber’s strict reconciliation rules that limit the policies this health bill can include.

What this means? This is what it means.

****An exemption mandates that members of Congress have access to the essential health benefits.****

But for some reason, Senators think it's a terrific idea that there is a list of essential health benefits that their own insurance is required to cover.

You know what's extra bad about this? Covering those essential health benefits means that a whole lot of conditions will be caught at an early stage, meaning that treatment is less heroic, cheaper, and more likely to lead to a good result. Over time, coverage for essential health benefits saves a shit-ton of money. The opposition to requiring insurance to cover essential health benefits is absurd, almost criminally so.
