This has been one of the less embarrassing days of his presidency. I guess he deserves some minor praise for showing some human decency.

(9,895 posts)He IS the president and he is a monumental embarrassment every day. Even his BEST day is orders of magnitude away from actually BEING presidential.
I award him no points, and may god NOT have mercy on his soul!

(3,030 posts)They've both made a point to try to entice him from the Dark Side. I wish them luck, since this moron does control several thousand nuclear warheads.

(9,895 posts)Both men were also embroiled in scandals (mini or otherwise) of their own in France and Canada recently...Trudeau seems less damaged by his, but there was a lot of criticism of Macron in France in recent days...
Trump is a complete and utter buffoon, if it wasn't so damaging to the country and the future, it would be like watching a real life version of Chevy Chase's impression of Gerald Ford crossed with his version of Fletch....but without the humor.

(3,030 posts)and you watch that dog attack other dogs and people, you know he needs to be gotten off the streets. But while waiting for Animal Control to arrive, if you see that dog start wagging his tail and trying to be on his best behavior, then I think it's appropriate to say "good boy!" All the while counting the minutes until Animal Control arrives.
I think both Macron and Trudeau know, as we do, that Trump is a fundamentally defective human being. He always will be. But I don't agree with the notion that we should just blindly throw rotten fruit at him every night on the news, even if he tries to be on his best behavior. That will just push him further into Bannon's grasp and make the damage of his remaining presidency that much harder to repair.

It's gross to feel that a man you are repulsed by is judging you in that manner.

(3,030 posts)He responds well to praise from either the right or left. It's all about him. And this child controls the fate of our nation, until he is impeached. That being the case, I'd give the child lollipops when he at least tries to listen to reason.
He's being almost traditional presidential (and not modern-day presidential) only because Macron is taking him to a cool parade with fighter jets and horses, not to mention dinner followed by the most beautiful piece of European chocolate cake you will ever see at the Eiffel Tower.

(3,030 posts)If Macron can get him to go back into the Paris Accord, though- that will be very worth doing.
