ABC/WaPost Poll - Trump "Record Low"

In a newly released poll, at the 6 month point in his Presidency, Donald Trump has the lowest approval rating at 36% of any Pres in the poll's 70 year history after 6 months in office. The 36% is also a 6% drop since the 100 day mark when he was polling at 42% (that also an all time low at that point). Keep them falling I say.

There are also other numbers within the poll, 63% said it was innappropiate for Don Jr to take the meeting w/ the Russian lawyer. 55% dont think he's making progress towards his goals (good!) only 27% think American leadership on the global stage has gotten stronger under Trump.

Troubling for Dems though, only 37% think the Dem party stands for something, 52% think its just "anti Trump".

Nixon's 24 pct in August 1974 showed us the roundabout percentage of deplorable "backwash".

Once what Trump has planned for that segment hits them in the face, all but his Christian Right and racist supporters will abandon him.

So far Trump has lived off the afterglow of the Obama economy and has pleased his base with largely failed attempts to ban all Muslims. The Obama economy ends after next month.

National polls are kind of pointless given our electoral system.

His base is still solidly behind him
It's the people who voted for him that did it reluctantly (for whatever reason) that he's losing

The percentage of likely voters who strongly approve of Trump's performance is now 10 points lower then it was when he began is presidency. It's now at 27%.

He and his base are attached at the hip...They still adore him and always will...Problem is that his base wil lalso control the outcome of the 2018 House Races... High probability that Trump will weather the storm..

Real surprised when the gravitational pull of his unpopularity affects them on midterms. This should have alarms going off in the republican ranks.

message we have is going to be drowned out by Trump's scandal du jour. Every week, sometimes every fucking day , there's a new scandal or outrage and Democrats spend all their time reacting. I'm not faulting them for this because I think Trump's such a threat to democracy that pushback is essential but our message also needs to come through. Trump eats up all the oxygen just like he did during the campaign.
