(815 posts)apologize if they didn't vote for him. In fact, if you apologized to me, I'd assume you were a repentant Trump voter.

(816 posts)Understanding of history, science and art and everything else has been dumb down that Russia could actually effect our election. We have failed each other and future generations. Look how France handled the "October surprise" right before their election -not just citizens but media and what happened with the Clinton-comey reopening the election.

(18,319 posts)who are first generation natives, naturalized citizens, or immigrants in the process of settling into the new country that is now their home. In my neighborhood there are lots of Pakistani and Bangladeshi owned small businesses that I patronize either daily or at least a few times a week.
I live in a pocket of Trump-country in what is a very blue state, so once Trump won the nomination, the lurking haters felt empowered enough to be rude, confrontational, and generally superior to these business owners and employees who are from their very neighborhoods.
A Muslim teenager (born in the US of immigrant parents) who works at DD recently mentioned to me that "people who I thought were my friends really aren't." They had actually taunted him with food in the lunchroom during the fasting hours of Ramadan that day.
This American kid, wise beyond his years, told me, "My dad is Muslim, but my mom is Hindu. I know what it means to be tolerant from what my parents taught me."
It is this boy, his parents, and all the newly arrived, hard-working people who just want a shot at a better life who are the very people who make America great. They make me proud to be an American.
As for newly empowered haters, all they do is make me ashamed

(1,934 posts)for 2 long periods and visited many times I'm quite depressed about the current political atmosphere. I'm heartened by the fact that the majority of voters - by a big margin - did not vote for Trump. But I'm also quite depressed that so many did.
I feel that a vast number of Trump voters now regret their choice but his hard core of fans really frighten me and the things Trump has unleashed are really scary.
I was quite saddened to read an article by Justin Raimondo the editor of AntiWar saying he voted for Trump and now regrets that decision. How could you not possibly have know what a crook and con-man Trump is?
But no- no American pal has apologised for Trump and nor should they..but every American friend I have really is scared about the future.
