unless you believe that people sweat right through heavy socks and leather boots. Because absent actual feet, he will literally lick your shoes and your pants.

And after watching him these past 7 1/2 years, especially how tenderly he licks in a snugly mood, I think it is more "grooming" than anything else. He makes me think of a mother gently licking her puppies...
