In response, Jeff Sessions will shout out in self-righteous indignation: "I'm not quitting, because you're going to fire me! So there!"

(43,219 posts)Trump's not actually firing Sessions, and Sessions has expressed no indication to quit. And I don't think either is acting on any sort of higher principle.

And why would anyone in their right mind work for thus crazy lunatic?

(43,219 posts)Does Jeff Sessions dutifully step aside, allowing Donald the Great to move on to fight against Mueller the Terrible?
Or do they just decide to stop and act as nothing happened? I mean, they are on the same exact page on everything else.
It's got to have some sort of ending, right?

(115,900 posts)He wants Sessions to quit so he won't be accused of obstruction of justice (which is exactly what he'd be doing, just like when he fired Comey). If Sessions quits, he can just say, "Hey, he quit - his decision" and he's off the hook, or so he thinks.
But Sessions has a lot of friends in the Senate. Yes, Sessions is awful and he's doing some very bad things to the DoJ, but Trump can't afford to piss off those GOP senators off at this point.
