(3,733 posts)Here in Pittsburgh I've been too busy watching Stanley Cup highlights over and over to pay attention to soccer. What's the story on this matchup?

(269,222 posts)Mexico beat us in the last GC final.
Teams seem evenly matched but our keeper is special.

(3,733 posts)Right now I'm watching our minor league Riverhounds, and one of our players is wearing Jamaican flag wrist bands.

(4,268 posts)Too bad the final wasn't vs Mexico, the huge rivalry!
US should win this one by 2 goals.
malaise
(269,222 posts)but that free kick in the 88th minute was enough for the win.
You don't need a wall grudge match.

(4,268 posts)What?? I don't know how closely you follow soccer/football.....
This would not be a "wall grudge match". That's almost insulting to this rivalry. As heated as this SPORTING rivalry is, both the US and Mexico players have a lot of respect for each other on the field and off and would not bring politics onto the field.
You think the politics is about the players?
OK then.

(269,222 posts)Ackee actually was brought from Africa and while you can find it in several parts of the Caribbean, it's a national dish in Jamaica.
