Flashback to the last year of Obama's term:
Washington (CNN)In an unprecedented move, Senate Republicans vowed to deny holding confirmation hearings for President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee -- even promising to deny meeting privately with whomever the President picks.
(LA Times) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, doubling down on his opposition to President Obamas Supreme Court nominee, said Sunday that theres no way the Republican-controlled Senate will hold a confirmation vote not even after the November election.

The Senate majority leader's challenge to the president's nominating authority appears to be unprecedented.
The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president, McConnell said...
"We've never had vacancy and nomination [for] a year that didn't get voted on," Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in an interview on Saturday night. "Obama's been elected twice, you have to assume if Mitt Romney had been elected he'd be making this nomination."

"It seems clear President Obama made this nomination not, not with the intent of seeing the nominee confirmed, but in order to politicize it for purposes of the election," McConnell said.
"I believe the overwhelming view of the Republican Conference in the Senate is that this nomination should not be filled, this vacancy should not be filled by this lame duck president," McConnell said.

If they take down the Con but leave McConnell in place we will still be fucked.
