Please help me to understand the logic.

Seems many feel responding to an attack is divisive, while the attack(er) is dismissed.

In other words, attacks from a politician are lobbed in over the fence into a territory we all belong to. Yet, the people who respond to the attacks are accused of being the divisive one.

How the hell does that work?

One of the most basic forms of logic is the syllogism. For example: Towlie Aug 2017 #2

A hotdog is NOT a sandwich. I know it technically is meat between bread with condiments, but it just isn't a sandwich.

This is not an attack against the Pro-Hotdog Sandwich movement.

Hitler was a vegetarian.

Hitler was evil.

Therefore, vegetarians are evil.

Interestingly, while the above syllogism will appear faulty to virtually everyone, if "atheist" is substituted for "vegetarian" most religious people will agree with it.

Throw out an attack, then cry "divisive" when they get push back. "I know you are but what am I" seems to be the philosophy.
