"Reclaiming My Time" is a Lesson for Democrats

I appreciate Maxine Waters' use of "reclaiming my time!" I hope that more Democrats use that line or a similar means to handle "non-answers" given by administration officials.

"Reclaiming my time" is an entirely appropriate means of handling non-answers.

It's common for politicians to give non-answers. There is a definite skill in providing non-answers. This is done through the non-answerer providing long acknowledgments, praise, and generalizations. Non-answers may indicate stupidity or may represent an attempt to evade providing requested information without being apparently unresponsive.

Here's an example (a ridiculous one):

Question: What is your name?
Non-Answer: Thank you for your question - I really appreciate it. Names are highly important to all of us, and I understand your interest in this subject. I believe that we share a common interest in names. I look forward to continuing to discuss the subject of names with you in the future.

"Reclaiming my time" means "I'm going to stop you right there. The question is... Please answer the question." "Reclaiming my time" shows persistence, and an unwillingness to be stopped by a non-answer.

This is no time for social politeness. This is a time to persist in the face of obfuscation.
