Right wing religionists see an opportunity to make this a Biblically based theocratic government. Their prayer warriors in in the wings ready to protect Trump and Pence and if they lose Trump they will have THEIR MAN as president. And the mostly radical Christian GOPPERS are willing to go along.
I know what I am saying sounds probably alarmist. But if you look at the GOP primary to replace Sessions the are all super radical Christian nuts.
It may be far fetched that such a thing can happen. But Trump was not supposed to happen. And Pence as VP was no coincidence. When you see a prayer group for the Cabinet led by a super radical pastor that believes a woman in public office is a sinner you certainly have to take notice. When you look at the radical Christian right having almost a direct line to Trump and his rhetoric you have to take notice. When you see Trump attack transgenders which is what the radical Christian right wants. You have to wonder.
Could be nothing but you have to wonder.

I did spend almost 3 weeks in French Polynesia.. Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Bora Bora, PARADISE.. And, like in Hawai'i, some of the the most beautiful people I have every seen.
A former student of mine played in the Honolulu Symphony, and a friend who plays now in the SF Symphony used to play there also.
I hearby approve of your deportation to Hawai'i.

(10,602 posts)The other factor is the number of GOPPERS who are RW Christian in Congress. And you have to look at where so many states are passing anti reproductive right laws and the push to defund Planned Parenthood that is relentless. Things still seem to be moving forward in some way.

(34,074 posts)Do you know how many people in Trump's base, who couldn't give a crap about the bible or religion, attack people who are transgender.
(BTW: using transgender as a noun is offensive, since it reduces people who are transgender to that sole aspect of their lives)

(10,602 posts)Right now reproductive rights and the right to choose is under attack every where in the Country. If you really need an abortion for medical reasons or other reasons it is more and more difficult. Kentucky is about to close its last clinic where abortions are possible. Plus there is pressure on the AMA and medical schools to NOT teach abortion procedures to doctors.

(10,602 posts)The religious right is salivating and fully believe they have a right to take over and run the country their way. And I do think they do represent a real danger. The "christian nation" rhetoric is being pounded constantly by the GOP and RW media. Many parts of the rural population are super conservative Christian.
