As someone on MSNBC pointed out, if he only hears happy talk, he can't correct missteps, and his poll numbers will continue to go down. White House staff are supposed to give the President an honest assessment so that he can change course if need be, not only for the good of the President's approval rating but for the good of the country. Alas, that will never happen in the Trump White House, where being a sycophant appears to be the one and only job requirement.
