Trump is lying, we have done very little to modernize our nuclear arsenal and for good reason. Modernizing it would start another arms race. Minimum safety related updates are needed, but any full scale renovation would be viewed as an act of aggression.

When in the Army, although it was in the seventies, my primary MOS (job) was a 55G20. A nuclear weapons maintenance specialist. We worked at least four years just to run through tests on existing weapons to insure thier viability.
