Raul Garcia is winner of Holland City Council primary

Raul Garcia has called the primary election for the Ward 3 Holland City Council race.

With 70 absentee ballots remaining to be counted, Garcia has received 71 percent of the vote, meaning he does not have to go through the November election and is declared the winner. He is ahead of Councilman Brian Burch and challenger Tim Marroquin, who have 13.9 percent and 15 percent of the vote respectively.

Out of 359 voters, 255 have voted for Garcia, 50 have voted for Burch and 54 have voted for Marroquin.

Garcia called the election on his campaign Facebook page, saying he is honored to be the next city councilman. He also thanked the other candidates.
