How do foreign leaders deal with First Daughter Ivanka Trump?
According to one anonymous diplomat quoted by Hindustan Times editor-in-chief Bobby Ghosh, the key is to flatter her and make her feel important just as you would do with a visiting member of a royal family.
We regard Ivanka Trump the way we do half-wit Saudi princes, the diplomat told Ghosh. Its in our national interest to flatter them.

India diplomat tells me: "We regard @IvankaTrump the way we do half-wit Saudi princes. It's in our national interest to flatter them."

(823 posts)I was also disheartened by the tone of comments about the young woman working for 45 who it was more than suggested on DU only got the position she was in because of her prettiness and her supposed willingness to do whatever. Is that ever said about an attractive young man working in the same situation? Or is he just ambitious?

(1,349 posts)there is nothing wrong with questioning why someone with no qualifications to do a job is hired by a man who hires people based on their attractiveness.
What other than her looks qualifies a former model with no educational or work background to do the job she's doing? If the boss is stating that he hires only attractive young men, and hires one that has no qualifications and no ability to do the job he was hired for, it's perfectly valid to state the obvious reason he was hired.

(29,099 posts)If so, you might explain to them that we are a nation of laws, which, at present, only allows for the two options of impeacment or invocation of the 25th Amendment. Not too difficult.
Ninsianna
(1,349 posts)sadly we are not a nation where those laws are enforced by the party in power, thus, they are correct to wonder why the US is failing so badly at being a functional nation of laws. They, and the rest of the world are wondering just how much damage this once great nation will do to the world before someone does something to prove that we are indeed a nation of laws and a people that actually apply those laws.
Seems like they understand a few things that some Americans don't quite get.

(13,776 posts)... (given that she and even Jared were Democrats): what if she is one of the few voices of reason in Trump's world? What if she's on our side (without being able to say so) and doing her best? It's not her fault that Steve Bannon is always whispering in Trump's ear. And as far as we know she didn't ask to become one of her father's advisers, but if my dad were Trump and I had any opportunity to try to influence him, I'd do it too. I'd consider it my moral duty.
That Indian diplomat who said it's in their national interest to flatter her didn't say she demanded flattery. He just said that it's in the Indians' interest to provide her with it.
I know I'm in the minority here, and probably totally delusional about Ivanka's motivations, but I don't feel the same way towards Ivanka that I do towards Eric and Don Jr. I think she's wildly out of touch with how the majority of people live, sure, but I don't think she's malicious.

(1,089 posts)To babysit Dad. If people knew they had voted for someone in the early stages of dementia...not the 30%, but the rest...it would not be pretty if they revealed they knew this was the situation when he was running. And believe me, you know it a while before it is diagnosed as moderate to severe.
