they still have to deal with the federal gov't to treat with the US..........that is if their economies survived the exodus of real Americans, all the loss of the military bases and all collateral jobs that go with it.

Lockheed still wants to do business with the DoD? No facilities in the state's that seceded.

Texas might survive as a christian version of Saudi Arabia, oil, God and guns, they could even have mutaween and a theocracy like the fascists have always wanted.

There was never a southern nation. There were traitors who attempted to create one but they were defeated. They were granted amnesty-this may have been a mistake.

and they objected to doing the homework required for writing law in the USA.

The secessionists live in rebel fantasy world where the great war was not lost and the south will rise again. Somehow they forget they were born as Americans under one law, just as the rest of us were. That same law says all of the USA belongs to ALL of the citizens all at once. It is that simple. You derive your status as a citizen from the whole of the country. And, in this case, the whole is so very much more than simply the sum of the parts.

Didn't they just get everything they ever wanted out of the 2016 election? Now they want to run away, at least until they get hungry or it gets too dark.

That said, there's a part of me that thinks... Jesus, that would solve so many problems for us, up here.

We'd have a government in DC that would be solidly progressive, able to actually pass legislation helping people and fixing shit on everything from health care to cannabis. We could stop fighting over stuff like gay marriage or whether or women controlling their own reproductive systems.

It can be tough. The portrayal of the "southern image" alone works against us. A considerable amount of pretty non-political people in the south puff their chests out and vote republican because of a childish and uneducated reaction to attacks on the south. Some who vote democratic even have the same visceral reaction to "northeast elitists" as republicans.

I truly appreciate how you state your thoughts while not simply dismissing the south as a whole.

Eventually we will figure that out and either slaughter each other until one side surrenders or decide instead to peaceably separate.

I vote for peaceful separation.

Because otherwise you are seriously misinformed about the situation here in the South. Outside of about 3 states the republicans advantage is artifical due to gerrymandering. No way in hell even 10 percent of Floridians would go for that shit. Most of the republicans voters are on SS and Medicare!

Have a nice evening.
