(2,153 posts)And the song Down In It. Have listened to that album too many times the past 6 months.
And for all I can tell, the album (Pretty Hate Machine) Describes tRump's idea of how to be President

THE I-95 ASSHOLE SONG
(Fred Campbell)
August & The Spur Of The Moment Band - 1983
Also recorded by Jimmy Buffet; Kip Attaway.
Well I was drivin' down I-95 the other night
Somebody nearly cut me right off the road
I decided it wasn't gonna do any good to get mad
So I wrote a song about him instead
It goes like this...
Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it your whole life?
Either way it worked out fine
'Cause you're an asshole tonight
Yes you're an A-S-S-H-O-L-E
And don't you try to blame it on me
You deserve all the credit
You're an asshole tonight

(80,708 posts)A loud breaking sound in the night is made.
Hear it grow, hear it fade.
The sound you're hearing, the sound you're fearing
is the hate that parades up and down our streets, coming within bounds and within reach.
Now, inside the place we hide away, we hear it near and hope it turns away.
Turn away...
There's something seething in the air we're breathing.
We learn slash and burn is the method to use.
Set a flame, burn it new.
We're overpowered.
We kneel, we cower, we cover our heads.
Feel the threat of blows that will come and the damage that will be done in its wake.
Now, inside this place we hide away, we hear it near although it's miles away.
We hear it near and hope it turns away.
Turn away...
This house divided, we live inside it.
Hate's dwelling place is behind our door in fitful nights.
Hear it walk the floor and hear it rave as it moans and drags along its ball and chain,
as it moves through this house it can't escape.
Now inside this place we hide away.
We hear it near and hope it turns away.
Turn away....

(192 posts)Pink Floyd album from the late 80's. The songs In the Flesh and Run like hell could have been inspired by a drumpt rally. Sorry not well versed at liking videos. Check out the movie segments on YouTube.

(1,257 posts)If you're a long way from home
Can't sleep at night
Grab your telephone
Something just ain't right
That's evil
Evil is goin' on wrong
I am warnin' ya brother
You better watch your happy home
Well, long way from home and
Can't sleep at all
You know another mule
Is kickin' in your stall
That's evil
Evil is goin' on wrong
I am warnin' ya brother
You better watch your happy home

(1,257 posts)I generally get bored with most 8-bar blues pretty quickly, but the older guys, especially the wolf, just send me.
There is just no voice like that, and Hubert Sumlin is really superb as well.
Muddy is pretty special too, but I still prefer the Wolf over all.

(1,257 posts)Pretty relevant... generally brings a tear to my eye, a odd combination of joy and extreme angst/sorrow for me personally.
The words in the chorus are just so....
Depeche Mode Blasphemous Rumours Lyrics
Girl of sixteen
Whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists
Bored with life
Didn't succeed
Thank the Lord
For small mercies
Fighting back the tears
Mother reads the note again
Sixteen candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame
It's always the same
She goes down on her knees
And prays
[Chorus x 2]
I don't want to start
Any blasphemous rumors
But I think that God's
Got a sick sense of humor
And when I die
I expect to find Him laughing
Girl of eighteen
Fell in love with everything
Found new life in Jesus Christ
Hit by a car
Ended up
On a life support machine
Summer's day
As she passed away
Birds were singing
In the summer's sky
Then came the rain
And once again
A tear fell
From her mother's eye
[Chorus x 5]

(89 posts)You might be a financial wizard,
With a sack of loot,
All I see is a slimy lizard,
With an expensive suit,
Go on and run your corporation,
Go and kiss some ass,
You might buy half of the nation,
But you can't buy class
You bastards think it's funny,
Lyin' and thieving all your life,
Think all there is is money,
Got your future strapped up tight,
Just 'Cos You Got The Power,
That don't mean you got the right
You can take my fingers babe,
You can take my eyes,
You can take my past and future,
It won't make you wise,
You can have me thrown in jail,
You can steal my booze,
You can even read my mail,
Step on my blue suede shoes,
You bastards must be clever,
Got it mapped out in black and whit,
But don't forget you'll never,
Get a dog to walk upright,
Just 'Cos You Got The Power,
That don't mean you got the right
Go on out make another deal,
Feed your big fat face,
Go on out and cop a feel,
Get on somebody's case,
You surely would be satisfied,
If you could have it all,
But time ain't on your side,
You're going to the wall
You think that life's all dollars,
Greed and lust and spite,
But I wasn't born to follow,
Like to get my sleep at night,
Just 'Cos You Got The Power,
That don't mean you got the right
