Where the fuck is the world going?

Seriously. I know I live in Canada and so I'm one step removed from the crazy but it's really not that much of a step. 9/11 was one of those seminal moments in modern history. One of those moments everyone remembers what they were doing, how that day unfolded. We were all glued to the TV as the terrible events unfolded live. It did not take long for conservatives to grab hold of the event and use it to their advantage. Indeed that very day saw cries for war without any concept yet of who we were to go to war with. And of course in the ensuing years we went through some very dark times. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives and trillions of dollars were lost needlessly based on lies that would never have passed muster had it not been for 9/11. But. As bad as those years were I never felt scared for my own life, for my own freedoms, except perhaps in the few moments after the planes hit the buildings. At that moment there was a real "oh shit" pit of my stomach drop that I'm sure you all felt. Don't get me wrong, declaring war on Iraq and the ensuing loss of life, the financial collapse of 2008, they were all dark times. But even then I did not question the solidity of the bedrock, society itself.

Now for the first time in a very long time I have that pit of my stomach feeling I had back on 9/11. Not quite at that intensity but MUCH more worrisome is that I now constantly feel it. Neo Nazi's marching in the streets en mass, Neo Nazi's murdering people, and a 5 year old man child president who supports them. Police killing black people as if it's open season. The normalization of treason. The daily normalization in the media of breaking news that in any other presidency would spell the end, but now is just another day.

The tension in the air can be but with a knife. Never in my life time have I seen the world, not just the US, so terribly divided. 8 PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET OF 7 BILLION OWN MORE WEALTH THAN THE BOTTOM 50 FUCKING PERCENT. 8 PEOPLE OUTWEIGH 3.5 BILLION!!!!

Yes there has always been unrest. Yes nations have always been failing. But this is a spectacular bottleneck the world is asking us to squeeze through without some kind of bloodbath. I don't want to see society break down. I feel like a paranoid schizophrenic even saying that sentence. But facts are facts. Somewhere we need to release some MAJOR pressure relief valves or some very dark shit is coming

In the most powerful position in the world without consequences. On the bright side, the human race will produce leaders to fill the vacuum, and brace souls to build a new order.

I'm not talking anything apocalyptic of course. I don't even envision civil war as I don't think there is stomach for that. But, I could see major violence in the streets, cities grinding to a halt, the collapse of global markets, and wars triggered between nations.

3. We have been too complacent for a very, very long time (the 60s)

and now we will have to learn how to stand up for what we believe in before it is too late. It is going to take something to make every citizen feel so threatened and angry/scared that their only option is to do something and fight for it any way possible. Half the country didn't even vote! And everyone CAN do something and not just bitch and complain. Boycott companies, have sit-ins in congressional offices, write, call, march, gather in groups, close down cities, we can do it.

If women didn't spend any money on anything for a day a week there would be a big impact and get attention for women's equal rights. Hitting them with money would work in many different areas since money is what gets the attention of everyone in this country. General strikes works well too. This is what will begin to turn things around. Power to the people! RESIST!

Trump would kill BILLIONS if it served his purposes or kept him from consequences...he is but a symptom of the disease of greed. Those 8 people, who are collectively worth more than 3.5 BILLION...by any relativist morality should be divested of their wealth for the common good. They will not, and in fact a blunt instrument like Trump exists to do what they want (kill BILLIONS) without having to do the dirty work themselves.

The oligarch class and billionaires have installed Trump for a reason, and that reason is NOT the orderly redistribution of wealth to maximum effect....unless you define maximum effect by the total % of world wealth in YOUR accounts...

6. About those eight people owning the lion's share of the wealth

Do you suppose outing them on social media will cause them to lose all that wealth and power?

I am being snarky to prove a point. Our current means of social justice is outing Nazis on social media. Everyone seems to love the idea. But will that bring about true social justice? Not by a long shot. Neither will outing the eight wealthiest people on the planet bring about economic justice. We clearly need policy changes. As I watch the statues come tumbling down, I find myself wondering if all those people gathered for the event will be voting next year and again in 2020. These people need to maintain that fire in their bellies, but my God what will be the eventual cost of all this mayhem? I think humans can become addicted to hate. This has certainly happened to the Nazis. Now their hate has infected us. It boils down to whether or not we can direct that hate toward making positive changes in policy.
