President Trump said Thursday that he may not reach across the aisle to work with Democrats on a massive infrastructure bill, while at the same time acknowledging that they may be more supportive of the issue than his own party.
Im not sure that we will bring them in. Maybe well bring them in, maybe not, Trump told reporters at his Bedminster, N.J., golf club.
I think the infrastructure bill will be bipartisan and quite frankly, I might have more support from the Democrats. I want a very strong infrastructure bill.
Massive infrastructure spending has repeatedly been billed as one area that could garner bipartisan support in Congress. But so far, the ideas floated by the administration, such as encouraging private investors to raise money for projects through toll ways and other user fees, have drawn the ire of Democrats.

President's Daily National Security Briefing:
That bad guy is still in North Korea (which is north of South Korea) and still has a bad haircut.
Vlad still loves you. For now.
The dictator in Venezuela won't send you a copy of his how-to manual.
Chancellor Merkel is still the leader of the free world.
We haven't had any donestic Islamic terrorism, but we have had domestic nazi terorism, but we don't count that.

(3,077 posts)It's sickening how the briefs are in bullet-point style and less than a page if possible. That's so disturbing. There is not enough detail and substance to make any sort of informed decision. I know he would not make an informed decision anyway and this is done to accommodate his short attention span, but it's absolutely pathetic that this is happening.

(58,661 posts)Repub ideas in general suck. Their idea of "infrastructure" involves massive funding through Wall Street investors and privatized roads and airports. Actual infrastructure improvements under their ideas would be low. We'd be lucky to get back 10 cents on the dollar of taxes blown on those schemes.

that would be the Republican dream infrastructure plan - sell our highways, bridges, waterways, ports, airports, etc off to private corporations for big tax breaks - Interstate 95 in New Jersey would instead by the ExxonMobil Highway, and all rest stops will feature ExxonMobil gas stations and the tolls will be 5x higher than they are now. If they call it the Trump ExxonMobil Highway, they get an additional tax break.
