I supported the Republican in dozens of articles, radio and TV appearances, even as conservative friends and colleagues said I had to be kidding. As early as September 2015, I wrote that Mr. Trump was the most serious candidate in the race. Critics of the pro-Trump blog and then the nonprofit journal that I founded accused us of attempting to understand Trump better than he understands himself. I hoped that was the case. I saw the decline in this country its weak economy and frayed social fabric and I thought Mr. Trumps willingness to move past partisan stalemates could begin a process of renewal.
It is now clear that my optimism was unfounded. I cant stand by this disgraceful administration any longer, and I would urge anyone who once supported him as I did to stop defending the 45th president.
Far from making America great again, Mr. Trump has betrayed the foundations of our common citizenship. And his actions are jeopardizing any prospect of enacting an agenda that might restore the promise of American life.

(27,832 posts)wasn't it enough that the guy threatened to jail his opponent, and was almost openly receiving help from Russia? How is that not enough to withhold your vote?

(2,301 posts)It always irked me a bit until I realized it wasn't really a story about some deeper moral truth, but rather as a practical social lesson in building organizations/movements.
It's not productive to turn people away that have finally seen the light, even if they've been the world's biggest morons... *sigh*

And I resent "I saw the decline in this country its weak economy and frayed social fabric"
Who I'd like to ask destroyed the economy w/tax cuts for the rich and almost wrecked our country and who was the guy who came along to save it.
Who spent the last 8 years trying to destroy a presidency because a black Dem was pres and refused to do any work for the good of the nation.
Who nominated the mendacious, thumb sucking two-year-old GRIFTER in the WH.

(1,180 posts)but how simple minded must one person be to be riveted by anything this man says? He can barely string a sentence together. The only thing he is good at is bullying, and running his mouth.
