This country needs to be deconfederatized, a process that is a long time coming...

and something that could have happened if Reconstruction was more robust and allowed to continue on a permanent basis. Instead the resurgence of Confederate ideology came back in force again, and only started waning again by the 1970s after the Civil Rights movement was able to have some successes. Yet the process is incomplete, we have a Supreme Court that has started to roll back some of those successes of the 1960s, and due to neglect and apathy, we have, as a nation, failed in completing this process, perhaps now, 152 years after the civil war, we can complete this process and truly move on from that era in history. But this requires due diligence so that the agents of regression, the KKK, Nazis and Neo-Confederates can never succeed again.

I just hope we won't require an armed conflict for this process to be completed.
